I was surprised to see this black diamond.
Clearly light can get in and out so it has some kind of light performance.

I'd be really curious to see this diamond in the sunlight.

I just post it to advance knowledge since I'm pretty sure I've read here that all black diamonds are opaque.
The other possibility is they photographed the diamond's pavilion, but I can't imagine such a mistake.

Kenny,
I think that is the pavilion view and that the decision to photograph it as such isn't accidental. In reading the description, Leibish recommended setting it with the back facing up like a cabochon to highlight the unique cut.

Interesting that they didn't post any pictures of it at all with table side up....

Thanks Chrono, good catch.
I stand corrected.

Funny now how that pic is one of those that cause a kind of flip in your brain.
You can see it as the top of of a transparent gray diamond or the bottom view of an opaque one.

BTW, I finally found that wax I use for photography.
I'll get a pic up in the other thread.

Well, this one is pretty dark grey, and transparent, but if it's black, you would imagine it wouldn't have any transparency because black is devoid of color as well as light. Any dark diamond, devoid of color, that was transparent, would probably be graded a fancy grey. `

Funny optical illusion there you saw.

Wow, nice gray diamond and I'm usually not into gray and black stones.
