Size isn't as important... project will be determined based on the stone selected (probably a RHR though).

I'm more drawn to the hot pink shades, the more vibrant the better. I prefer pear, emerald or oval cuts.

Would like to finding something around $1K or less.

Thanks in advance!

Gemfix has a fair amount of smallish, very pretty, ones in your price range, but make sure to get a handshot of the stone, as often they are quite different looking when on the hand: http://www.gemfix.com/spinel.html

Tan - well cut, but for the window (others can weigh in on whether they think that will close up): http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-92ct-Attractive-Cushion-Cut-Natural-Pink-Spinel-/331036653030?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d135275e6

I can't see the vid, but if you can get over its wonkiness in cut, the color is great: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-49ct-VVS-Cushion-Mahenge-Bright-Reddish-Pink-Spinel-/261295468869?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd66c7145

Not a Spinel and slightly over budget, but if neon pink is what you're after this stone should deliver.

I would've bought that stone myself long ago if it was anything other than pink. I looked for Spinels and found some nice ones (most in need of a re-cut) none with that neon quality displayed in stone's such as Athenaworth's Spinel ring.

What does "sleepy" mean? This one and the one minousbijoux posted... does sleepy mean hazy?

So far I still like the little pear I found best.

That's lovely... it's a definite maybe!

Sleepy means the stone appears hazy. The pear you selected looks lovely, and it's probably my favorite overall of the one's listed here, but it doesn't have the pop that so many other Mahenge Spinels possess.

The Wildfish stone is very pretty, as is the one you chose :)) I worry that, although the tourmaline Greg picked out is gorgeous, it might get damaged more easily.

Agreed, she'd have to take care when wearing it, but definitely doable for a ring.

Prima, though their pics are not the best as one source.

Prima (in my limited experience) has one of the largest inventories of bright pink Mahenge spinels at any given time, but I agree with Minous, their photos are seldom flattering. Jaimeen (owner) is very helpful and if you shoot him an email, he'll be able to tell you if he has want you need in stock. Be sure to tell him you are a PSer. He goes to Tanzania several times a year, so his inventory is always getting updated.

https://primagemsusa.com/ (in case you aren't familiar with the company). Most of the precision cutters in the US seem to only have one or two at a time and if they are a good deal, they sell immediately. Jaimeen often has many stones that don't make it on his website.

My Dad leaves for Tanzania, Ethiopia and India in just over a week. Originally I had asked him to get me a tanzanite when he's in Tanzania but now I've added the mehenge to the list and told him to just take a look at what's available and surprise me. Little bugger, he already had some staff looking into it... so depending on the outcome of his trip and what he can or can't find, I'm going to hold off on a purchase until then. Otherwise I'll still keep my eyes open. Yup, still a Daddy's girl at almost 40 years old!
