No photos will be shown but here is the trip if you're interested.

Well, we had a Magical Weekend in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. 4RG picked DH and I up at the airport and off we went to PP. The Emperor and his bride were busy getting ready for the wedding so we chatted with Mia, Chenei and Scott then off to the café around the corner for lunch. We came back around 1:00pm and went into the vault looking for items we wanted to buy or were on the list our friends asked us to show them when the video chat started. We had NO idea we were going to be doing it until the day before. As you can see we are NO show hosts, just Lucy and Ethel, regular women who buy pearls showing them to their online pals. Sorry we were a little shaky but it was unnerving.

Because 4RG was driving and DH and I flying, we missed out on the first part of the sale and many of the items had sold by the time we got to PP. We were tickled we did get to see all the pearls in the sale and we did buy the items we went there to see when we set the appointment to The Vault.

The pistachio akoya strands were SO incredible. I had seen the blue akoyas and greenish akoyas in the past. The green which were featured in the ombre akoya/Tahitian strands were green but in another color line, maybe towards evergreen, if that makes sense. These pistachio were a pastel shade of that color. When Mia brought out the loose earring pairs which were baby blue, the difference in them and the green was very apparent. Who ever is lucky enough to get these pearls will have a treasure they won’t see on anyone else, more than likely. Just when we thought we’ve seen everything, Jeremy finds new rare pearls.

After we left The Vault we headed to the Beverly Hilton to drop off our bags and head out for dinner. When we pulled up to the door, there was a HUGE blue letters spelling…. FOX in the center of the circle drive and limo’s everywhere. Paparazzi had cameras out and we pulled past them to park. I asked a camera man who he was waiting to appear. Simon Cowell. We would have liked to see him but were too tired to stick around waiting.

4RG had made reservations to El Cholo in Santa Monica so we had to get ready to drive there. Last year it took a hour and a half to drive the 5 miles from the hotel. This year we would NOT be late. Dinner was wonderful and we ate till we were stuffed. 4RG drove back to the Hilton, and by then the cameras were gone but the Movie Critics program was in full swing in one of the meeting rooms off to the side.

DH went to bed ,but I left the connecting room door open and went to 4RG’s room to look at the pearls she had brought from home and we spread them out on her king bed. Pearl Queens in heaven , for sure.

On Saturday morning we headed down to the patio for breakfast. We watched a man swimming laps while chatting and eating omelets and fruit. We then loaded up in Wilma’s car and headed to Santa Barbara. There were many different hotels our friends were staying at, but from chatting with some of the lades, we knew a handful that were staying at ours.

We enjoyed the trip up the coast seeing views of farms , greenhouses and the Pacific. We were there during the Old Spanish days festival in Santa Barbara and the parade was underway when we arrived. We walked though the crowds to a near by restaurant for lunch then got in the car and took a tour of the area. When we returned to the hotel our friends started arriving coming in in planes, trains and cars.

We sat on the couches in the lobby so we wouldn’t miss anyone when they checked in. Lots of hugs , laughter and pearls. Pouches came out of bags as the ladies passed shiny orbs around for everyone to view. Even the woman behind the desk couldn’t help but come over for a lookie lou, she had on pearls also.

When everyone was accounted for we walked to a Italian restaurant for dinner. Everyone was exhausted and fell into bed for a good nights rest.

Finally, Saturday was here. We all came over to the main building for breakfast and many had plans to take a quick tour of the city before the second parade of the festival. 4RG, DH, our friend Pattye and I hopped in 4RG’s car and took a quick ride down to the harbor. We wanted seafood and headed to the pier. We could see cars and decided to drive out and see if we could actually park and eat. The parking gods were in our favor, because not only did we get parking on the pier, we got a empty beautiful restaurant to eat with a fantastic table by the window to boot. Lobster Taco’s , Shrimp and Mahi, Mahi were our choices and it was wonderful. After lunch we headed back because the shuttle would be picking us up at 2:50pm for a ride to the wedding.

At 2:30pm we went down stairs and the shuttle was waiting, we boarded and relaxed in the comfortable seats, while our friends arrived one by one. Then off to the next hotel where more of our friends boarded the bus, now it was filled. The wedding was at 4pm so off to Goleta we went. The ranch was in a rural area down a small dirt road. We passed a open area with a decorated barn, dance floor ,open bar, and made our way to a green manicured lawn with umbrellas and a bar, this is where we got off the bus. A road went up the side of the hill to where the ceremony would be held on a cliff overlooking the Pacific. Some walked up the hill , some rode on golf carts to the seating area.

The chairs were white and the isle the bride would walk down was carefully decorated in a ombre effect with blocks of colored rose petals. Darker to lighter in the same shades of the dresses the bride and attendants were wearing. Guests were given lemonade, flavored water and umbrellas to keep cool while waiting for the wedding to start. Finally the Gentleman performing the ceremony, groom and grooms men arrived and took their places near the edge of the cliff.

Up the hill came a fully restored dark blue 1948 Chrysler Town and Country woody caring the bride and her father to the wedding. The bride and her father walked down the isle of rose petals . She was wearing a beautiful strapless gown in shades of cream and taupe. Her hair was beautifully pulled back and adorned with roses. She had custom made taupe diamond dangle Tahitian pearl earrings to match her dress and wore a felted pearl bracelet that had little felted roses with pearls in each rose.

I have seen many weddings but the look in the Emperor’s eyes when he watched his bride get out of the car and walk towards him brought tears to your eyes.

The ceremony was meaningful and was written by their friend who performed the ceremony. After exchanging rings, “the kiss”. They walked hand in hand though the cheers and well wishes to the awaiting Chrysler and back down the hill to manicured lawn area with the umbrellas for champagne and hors d’oeuvers by the beach. After hugs and chatting with guests, the bus’s returned to take us to the barn area for the dinner and reception.

After disembarking the bus we walked to a seating board to find our table. Each table was named for a type of pearls, Hanadama, White South Sea, Tahitian, Freshadama, Golden South Sea. We found our seats and sat down. Flowers and candles were everywhere. This was no normal barn, beautiful crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling and with the dozens of tea lights on the tables, the light was perfect. There were Dahlia’s , Roses, Anemones and Peony’s everywhere. Each table had multiple huge arrangements and smaller ones in between, all the flowers were the exact shades as the ombre rose petals at the wedding spot on the cliff. Each guest had a menu with their name imprinted at the top laying on a folded cloth napkin. Holding the menu to the napkin was a glowing necklace of white freshwater pearls.

After multiple toasts to the newlyweds dinner was served. Everything was so good and the servers perfect. The groom and bride went around the room to visit with guests then all guests had photos taken inside a picture frame suspended from wires in the ceiling wearing assorted hats, boa. masks. 4 photos on each strip, One strip to bring home to remember the evening, one to put into a book along with best wished for the couple.

After dinner was complete it was time for dancing to begin. It was wonderful to see two people so much in love starting their lives together as husband and wife dancing on the floor. The music was wonderful and not too soft or loud so you could chat with others at the tables if you wished. After a few hours, it was time to head back to our hotels. The Chrysler was waiting and the Emperor and his bride left to start their lives as one.
