Where to sell my mother's pearls?

Hi,

Does anyone have an idea of where I could sell my mother's pearls in the New York area? They were purchased in 1986. She had three necklaces of varying length with cultured pearls of good quality 7.5-8.0mm. I think she wore them all of three times in total. I'm faced with the task of going through her estate and this has become a daunting project. I've also got gold I'm looking to sell as well.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I keyed in "completed listings" for "akoya pearls" on ebay, assuming they are akoya (saltwater) pearls. Only the prices in green actually sold, the red ones didn't. It seems a lot of people on the pearl boards decide to keep them for someone special instead, after they see how little second hand pearls go for (unless they are Mikimoto). Hope it helps, and good luck with it.

I'm sorry for your loss Bodid. Selling used pearls without an accurate appraisal of the grade of pearls or type you are selling will be tough.
As for the gold, if the pieces are high quality with large diamonds you may be able to find a jeweler to buy them from you, otherwise I would consider bagging the gold , gems and all and going to US gold Buyers.
62 West 47th Street, Suite 604 New York NY, 10036 Tel: (212) 764-7586 Fax: (212) 764-7551
I have used them along with many others on another forum. They are honest and have the largest payout that we can find for scrap gold. They will buy jewelry and diamonds if they are good quality , other wise you are selling the gold as scrap and the items will be melted down.

It's easy to price compare for yourself prior to going to USGB. They have a chart which shows the daily payout. The chart as it is shown is payout in ounces. Take the price for the Karat you are selling and divide by 31.1 to get the price per gram. Most jewelers who buy gold will tell you over the phone what price they are paying for a gram of 14k perhaps. See how easy it is to compare apples to apples? Good luck in your selling, Nacrelover.

Hi Bodid,

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. May her soul rest in peace and happiness.

In regard to your question, it depends where in the New York are you are looking. There are two great places I know of - Yonkers Gold and Diamond in Yonkers, and Studio Jewelers in The Bronx. I've gone there a couple of times, and a bunch of my friends use them as well. From what I've seen and heard, they do their best to work with the seller, and give you the best price they can. I've gotten paid very nicely there in the past. They're very honest and easy to deal with, and are very knowledgable in their area of expertise.

* There's Studio Jewelers (Bronx, Bay Plaza shopping Center). 2240 Bartow Avenue, Bronx, NY 10475. https://Studio-jewelers.com and 718320388

When it comes to selling the pearls, the cash you can get will vary depending on the quality and color of the pearls.
When it comes to the gold, it all comes down to the quality and weight of the metal.

Both of these locations will buy everything that you want to sell, as long as the stones are genuine, and the metals are precious metals.

Good Luck!!!!!
