I have never seen a blue diamond so I can't comment on that, but benitoite is pretty sweet.

(Not as awesome as hauyne, which is my choice for a rare blue stone...)

I have a pair set in earrings. They're a pretty nice blue.

Between the color and dispersion, it's my favorite type of stone. The dispersion is amazing and rivals my diamonds. I have 2 - a small round set in a stacking ring and an unset elongated trillion.

I don't have any but would like some; it's an irresistable stone to me. Love your earrings, Kismet!

oooh it's gorgeous! Like my favorite shade of sapphire...but that dispersion! :lickout: How durable (or not) are they exactly?

It is a stone that is best set into earrings or pendants but you can wear it in a ring if you baby it well. It rates a 6.0 to 6.5 on the MOH scale, which is softer than quartz (amethyst), tourmaline, zircon and the like.

I have one, and I've seen several in person. Honestly, they look like greyish blue spinels.
