At stores I notice some people carry around a zillion keys on their key rings.

How many keys do you usually have with you when you leave the house?
This includes all keys on your ring and any others you keep in your purse/wallet/car etc.

Pick the nearest number.

If you have a lot, and care to tell us, what in the world are they all for?
Do you carry any that you have not used in over a year?

Car key, apartment key, mailbox key.

But when I was a real estate agent I used to drive around with a BUCKET of keys!

I have two key rings - one has the car fob, car key, and my PO Box key - the other has my house key - this way, if I'm on foot, I only have to carry my house key - or if my husband borrows my car, he just takes the car keys and I still have my house key on me.

Kenny, you've GOT to stop shopping where the janitors shop!

:D :D

We had a rental property and for some reason, the new rental agency made 32 sets of keys for the house. WHY did they need 32 sets?

I have little caches of keys all over the house, from past houses, drawers, bicycle locks, all kinds of stuff. And I don't remember what any of them go to. So when I need the key for something, I have to dig them out, stand there and try them all. And yes, it's a zillion.

After we sold the rental property, the agency asked if we wanted the 32 sets back. We said HELL NO!

Keys to each car in the family (3), keys to each house (2), garage keys (2), padlock key (bicycle). So, I said 8.

When I go to the airport I add a hangar key and keys to each airplane in the club (total of 6 more keys). Those I keep with my flight bag.

I carry four.
Two for the house, one for the car and another for the car's club (steering wheel lock thingie).

I have a key ring in my house with about 30 keys on it.
They all were used for something at some time in my life . . . but I have no clue what almost all of them were for.

I carry 13 keys so I voted for 15.

1- front door to my house
1- rear door to my house
1- gate to my house
1- mailbox key
1- gate to grandma's house. She has dementia so I have a key for emergencies in case something happens and my grandpa needs help and can't get to the door.
1- front door to grandma's house
1- dead bolt to front door to grandma's house
2- uncle's house. He's often out of town and I feed his cats and waters his plants.
2- mom's house. I go there often to drop off and pick up packages.
2- car keys

All color coded and removable if I don't need it for more than a few weeks.

I had a key ring. I kept adding keys. It got too big. I couldn't remember what half of them were for, but was afraid to take them off :errrr:

So I started over. Now I have two keys. That's it. Even those I can't keep straight. :twirl:

I have 2, and one of those isn't even really a key, it's my car "fob" that I stick in a hole in the dashboard and then push a button to start the car. The other is my house key, which works for the front and back doors. I have a basket on top of my fridge that has all the "extra" keys... my kids' cars, my and DH's spare car keys, my MIL's beach house, the Thule (cargo box for the roof of the car), our spare house keys, etc... But I never carry them with me

I voted 4. My car, MIL's car, house key (opens all doors in both apartments in our duplex, though no one knows this but Fi and I), and padlock key for garages. I have a few keys stashed, FI's fob, and parent's keys are not carried around regularly. I should probably stash MIL's car key, too. I'm enjoying my recently streamlined key chain.

Personal Car key
Front door key
Back door key
Work Van key
Work van cupboard key
Work office key
Work clinic room key
Work office drawer key
Electronic work key to enter building.

They are not all on the same key ring though. I'm usually carrying around 3 sets with 3 keys each.

Depends if i am going to work or not. I have 2 sets of keys, one for home, one for work

Home has
car key
House key
Po box key for here
PO box key from old town i lived in
gate key
and one more key i can't remember what it is for :)

Work keys have
2 door keys
1 personal lock key
2 cabinet keys
this is a lot less keys than i used to have to carry

Then if i have a work car i have the key (fob) for that
so up to 12 keys, 3 sets, i carry.

I have 9 on my key ring so I voted for 10 -- I also carry a key card in my purse to get into my work building's staff entry. It seems like a lot, but I really do need all of them and use most of them pretty regularly -- monthly, if not daily.

1 key to my office
1 for my car
1 for DH's car
1 to outside apartment door
1 to our inside apartment door
1 garage key
1 to my parents' house
1 to my sister's house
1 bike lock key

19, and three key FOBs.

-6 house keys. One is for my house. One is for my grandma's house. One is for DH's old house (that he moved out of a year and a half ago). The others? No idea. But I'm afraid that if I throw them out I'll end up needed one of them.
-Storage unit lock
-Handcuff key (DH is a deputy...says it's good to have one on me...just in case...)
-4 car keys (for 3 cars) and 2 key FOBs
-key FOB for gym
-PO Box key
-Small key I have no idea what for..probably a padlock of some sort
-Mail key
-Bike lock key (haven't ridden my bike in probably two years...)

So yeah, too many keys.

It won't let me vote, for some reason, but none usually. I go to work in the same car and building as DH, so I don't bother. It's his car, and so he has keys anyway. If I go out without him at the weekend, I take a key for one of the house doors and one for the car. I hate lugging stuff around with me.

DH jokes that I look like a janitor with my key chain, but I never sat down and counted all of them.
house front door
house gate
car
car
office
office
office mailbox
7 total doesn't seem so bad...does it?

1 - car.

I don't even carry a house key, our housekeeper has the last one that actually works. So long as my garage opener doesn't kick it! 8)

I am the one that voted 0

I didn't notice that keys I keep in the car counted. All my locks have number keypads or they stay locked or unlocked. My car key is the only real key that I use and it stays locked in the car, as I have a number keypad for that too.

I do have some keys tho, they just never travel with me. I have a key to my front door that I never use. I have a key that goes to another door of the house, but I don't know which one or if it even works in a knob that is currently attached to a door. I have hubbys truck key that hasn't been driven in over a year and I have my parents house key that gets used about twice a year.
