Just got the diamond, what next?

I just received a JA diamond, and I'm considering a BGD setting. What are my next steps? Do I insure it with a rider on my home insurance policy before sending it to be set? Do I get it appraised first? When I mail it, is Fedex best? Overnight? Insured for what I paid for it? Very nervous about putting it in the mail.

Call and speak with Lesley at BGD and voice your concerns and ask your questions, especially since you're planning on using them to set this stone in one of their settings. She will give you "sage and sound" advice as how to best protect your investment, as its safety and insurance/coverage are in their best interest as well.

Thanks, Ravinmad. I got an email and a call into her, but haven't heard back. I have a big proposal planned so I've got a bit of a time crunch.

Has anyone sent a diamond into a different vendor to be set before? What did you do? Thank you so much!
