no...different size? hmmm...have to compare the listings...

oh, it is a little bit different. very much the same though. i actually think i like this one even better?

The diamonds seem to be different in terms of quality, I think? It could be the setting that is throwing off how they look, too.

Diamonds aren't anywhere near as nice, unfortunately. But it is similar :wavey:

Some very lovely rings posted! I like the last one, the one that's $389. Very pretty!

Which one? Could you link it it?

Vintage, that band is gorgeous but it's a lot more than I had budgeted for. With christmas coming up, I'm hesitant to lay out that much cash ...

This one! Glad Gypsy re-linked it, I'd have never found it again in all the piles of rings here.

I'm sorry that the band got away from you. The new one from the same seller is nice, what do you think of it?

Here you go:

http://www.jansjewells.com

Look in the silver reproduction section for beautiful temporary things. I had a ring from this company once and it was amazing (though it only cost $35) I really regret that I gave it away.
You could also try your local pawn shop.

BLING MADNESS INCOMING

Wow, Gypsy! You are a master in the art of ebay-fu!

Wow indeed- there are so many that made me say that out loud or had my eyes popping!

So many stand out- let me repost some with some thoughts ... the ones that were the single-stone (like that filigree deco piece  :lickout: ) would be so lovely but since they aren't stackable I'd never wear them again- I just don't wear rings at all unless it's my marital jewellery, so it would sit unloved in a box because I couldn't bear to part with it!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/270785634097?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Be still my heart! My jaw dropped when I saw this. Definitely a frontrunner, I just love this piece.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/370545706730?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Simple, very marital, would it be stackable? If so, definitely a very smart choice.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Signed-HC-Platinum-3-Diamond-18K-Gold-Eternity-Band-Ring-/300607186460?pt=US_Fine_Rings&hash=item45fd95a61c Oh my bleeping gawd!! I don't even CARE if it's not white metal! It reminds me of a VC! It says sizeable, but they don't show a clear pic of the back of the band.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SOLID-18CT-GOLD-AND-PLATINUM-2-45-GRAMM-LADIES-DIAMOND-RING-RRP-999-/150669509087?pt=AU_FineJewellery&hash=item23149a41df Dang girl you weren't kidding about the setting! How easy would it be to put some better diamonds into this one? Also, it's only a US size 5, so I think adding 3+ sizes to it might be asking too much?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-50ct-Sapphire-Diamond-18k-Gold-Platinum-Ring-/280745138026?pt=US_Fine_Rings&hash=item415db6d76a of all the diamond + sapphire bands, this one one really stood out for the stones, I think. But looked more closely at the 2nd from left sapphire, it looks like it's chipped or missing the top half to me ... does anyone else see that?

Also thought this one was fab: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WONDERFUL-1920s-ART-DECO-18k-GOLD-PLATINUM-DIAMOND-SAPPHIRE-RING-/280741767954?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415d836b12

That prompts me to ask - in the case of the stackable diamond-and-sapphire bands or in the 5 stones, is it better to focus on the best ring setting and then replace them with small better modern stones, or is it better to get the best antique stones and then resize the setting?

I could see myself with the 5 stones you posted:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DIAMOND-PLATINUM-18K-YELLOW-GOLD-EDWARDIAN-SIGNED-RING-VINTAGE-/160661425344?pt=US_Fine_Rings&hash=item25682accc0
http://www.ebay.com/itm/EDWARDIAN-18CT-GOLD-PLATINUM-5-STONE-DIAMOND-RING-/180734658676?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_VintageFineJewellery_CA&hash=item2a14a00874
http://www.ebay.com/itm/18CT-GOLD-PLATINUM-5-STONE-DIAMOND-RING-/180731282247?pt=UK_JewelleryWatches_WomensJewellery_Rings_SR&hash=item2a146c8347
But some of them have reaally tiny bands and I would worry about sizing up a good 3 sizes?

Also, I am moving away from single stone rings but when I was first searching for an e-ring placeholder I would have loved to get my hands on this one because the filigree is still so crisp and detailed, so posting it for someone else to find: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DECO-VINTAGE-14K-GOLD-FILIGREE-MINE-CUT-DIAMOND-RING-/220870142729?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336ce2eb09

I'm sorry that the band got away from you. The new one from the same seller is nice, what do you think of it?

I like it, but the diamonds in the one that got away were so nicer that it's hard to pay the same price for lesser diamonds, you know? :)

I think that many of the fives stones and the sapphire and diamond ones can be easily re-shanked if needed and sized then. So I wouldn't worry too much about that... I mean it's a concern. But I would figure out band you like as a whole or with minimal repair (in the case o replacing a couple of melee stones).

Glad you liked the options. I did find a LOT more tonight than last night. I think a lot of sellers uploaded new listings.

If you love something posted jump on it fast. There are lurkers. I find it too hard to believe that the other one was bought right under you without someone having seen this post. Ya know?

I think you first choice is beautiful. And I think it is probably nicely sizable. Just want to make sure you saw that there are NO DIAMONDS in that ring.

Yeah, it was just too coincidental ... do you think I should just go for a 5 stone stackable for future wearability?

Right now it's a dead heat between the first one, the vc-style, and one of the 5-stones. The VC-ish one makes me wonder how sizeable it would be if the ring is YG and then the outside is plated with plat?? I mean, won't they have to put the YG section in there and then re-cover it with plat to keep it consistent, or would they just rhodium dip the whole thing??

Edit: yep, it's that weirdly textured white gold to make it look like diamonds from really blurry pics, just like the ones the seller has, lol. I don't mind that since I'm not stuck on having a diamond ring, I would just worry about the stackability since it's so thick.

I think stackability is a good concern. I ADORE that VC like one. But yes, I do think that IF it is able to be sized it is going to be a pricy endeavor and, unfortunately that seller doesn't provide extra pics. I would say that the first one isn't very stackable but are you SURE that if you fall in love with it you wear it as a RHR later on. And one of the five stones is more likely to be. There is one that is ending within a day and that's the one I would try for and if you don't get it there are a host of others.

I read your thread and wanted to help look. I think Gypsy found some pretty good ones off of eBay, so I decided to look on Rubylane and Etsy. Here's what I found:

http://www.rubylane.com/item/376645-2464/18K-Five-Diamond-Deco-Ring Not sure how stackable this one would be and it's a bit over budget, but make an offer if you like it!

http://www.rubylane.com/item/389011-175tdrsrtde/Beautiful-Vintage-18K-White-Gold This one is white gold, but I thought it's got nice filigree and the price is pretty good imo.

http://www.etsy.com/listing/76323418/antique-emerald-and-diamond-ladies-ring?ref=v1_other_1 I'm pretty sure that the 'emeralds' in this one are most likely glass or synthetic (since that was common back then) but if you look at the profile in the second pic you'll see why I like it. It's also a size 9, so it would just need to be sized down.

http://www.rubylane.com/item/441053-MS00819/18k-White-Gold-5-Diamonds This one's also white gold (and over budget) but you can make a best offer if you like it. It has 5 diamonds though.

Hope this helps! ;-)

Thank you for the suggestions, ladies!

I am avoiding gemstones because coloured stones are perceived as being fashion jewellery here, which is a same because coloured gems would certainly open up my options on a limited budget.

I have emailed a seller and made an offer on a ring that is a little over my budget but not enough to insult them by offering my max. I'll post details if I get it, so it's not vulnerable to lurker sniping ::)

I'm still hunting, thought, and will be posting interesting find in here and asking for opinions! You can never have too much nice-but-affordable bling links, right?
