Hello, I was at Tiffany this afternoon and was looking at a Tiffany solitarie. When I asked about "knife edge", the salesman immidiately mentioned about knockoff settings set the stone very high. ??? What is "knife edge" when people talk about Tiffany solitarie style? Is it part of the real Tiffiny setting or the (real or generic) replicas? Thank you!

You mean... "knife edge" ring, not diamond, right ?

That is a band with a slightly triangular section that make an "edge" in the center of the band. The profile is used to make thin durable by adding more thickness. The triangular profile adds strength to the band as well.

Tiffany does make "knife edge" bands (link) too. Obviously, that saleperson needs to look over the catalog...

(wedding bands at Tiffany - the thin one in the center is "knife edge")

Put in a search for Tiffany Knife... and you will ge many post on your exact question. Also a 4 or 6 prong single solitaire daimond ring is a "tiffany stlye" ring.
