Alright...I KNOW people out there are as excited as I am for COLLEGE FOOTBALL to kick off this weekend! My team has a new coach and a new attitude after a rough three year patch. I can't wait for 3:30 on Saturday! I've been watching the hype videos, reading the blogs, and revisiting all my old marching band music and shows (yes, I was in marching band, and yes, we were AWESOME)...I am SO PUMPED.

So...who's your team and why?

I am maize and blue through and through (The University of Michigan) because it is my alma mater and where I spent the best five years of my life (undergrad and grad school)!

My aunt and uncle have 4 year degrees from FSU and my aunt stayed in T., went to work for FSU and retired from there! My a m didn't have a football team so I think I'll sit with you through all this excitement!

Danny, who doesn't really know football from badminton :cheeky:

You KNOW I love my Buckeyes....but its been a really rough off-season. The only OSU football I know is Cooper and Tressel era...and honestly I kinda am nervous bc of the tarnished reputation we now have. So sad. Tressel appeared to be such a great guy...im sure he still is, but I feel like we were cheated and lied to.

Fickle isnt bad to look at, but so weird to not see the sweater vest on the sidelines.

Vc: I packed a tiny little OSU outfit in my hospital bag for the baby if she happens to come on a weekend :)

Ummm, charbie, I'm pretty sure you've overtaken Northwestern as having the hottest coach in the Big Ten/Eleven/Twelve. Not to mention Mike Vrabel! ::swoon::

As for the OSU outfit...well, I must say I actually approve. It would be a shame if she wasn't properly dressed for a football game!!! I certainly plan on doing the same for any future children (but obviously in Michigan attire)! Are you close enough to Cbus to deliver at OSU Med Center and get the little Block O Beanie? LOL

College Football kicks off TONIGHT! Dude, I'm PUMPED!

I'm heading over to a friend's to watch our game on Saturday. There's a huge Michigan Alumni contingent in the DC Area, and there are 3 different bars at which to watch the game...but her place is closer and we can make our own food. NOM.

How is everyone else watching their season opener?

I am a Tenneessee Volunteer all the way and don't give me any flack about it! Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's been a rough few years, but they're gonna pull out of it!!! They play Montana on Saturday at 6 EST. There's a count down to kick off clock on their website. I'm hoping the game will be online and I can watch it here (and more importantly that I stay awake!). I grew up watching UT play and fall is just not the same without it. I love it!

DH is a HUGE Georgia Bulldogs fan. They start the season with Boise State on Saturday as well. I think kick off is at 1 EST. I'm willing to yell GO BULL DOGS..... As long as they aren't playing Tennessee!

We moved to NKY (Cinci area) last year, so no OSU born baby. Tho my OB is headed to the game this (and every) weekend and said if im up there for the game, he could probably get credentialed quickly and deliver there if I went into labor....haha. if we still were in ol' Columbus town, no doubt in my mind I would pick OSU med center to give birth!

A few friends have onesies for their kids that say 'poop on michigan'- gotta get a laugh out of that one!

And yes, Fickle is quite the hottie. My MIL works security for Bengals games, and for tonights game she had to escort Tressel from the fielld to the press box!
We plan on sticking close to home for the game this weekend...its vs. Akron....not a thriller.

Alright...first weekend is over...how'd everyone fare?!?!

Michigan is now 1-0 after defeating Western Michigan University 34-10 in a game that was called due to weather after just a smidge under 3 quarters. I'm not totally confident that the team is "back" just yet...but I've seen flashes of brilliance in a much-maligned defense and DRob was pretty solid, with a few great passes from under center, so I'm looking forward to next week. Michigan's FIRST EVER night game against Notre Dame who, let's just say, did NOT have a great start to their season...

My team (Tennessee) won but were playing Montana so the next few weeks will tell how they really are this year. Unfortunately, I didn't get to watch it. :(

DH is not so thrilled. Georgia didn't play well and got beat by BSU. We couldn't watch that live either and eventually had to resort to watching a bad quality replay on JustinTV.com. I have to say, why must ESPN make it so hard to watch sports online from a non-US location? We use a VPN server that makes it look like we are in the US. Why must we show who the cable provider is, huh? Huh? Huh? all my work arounds failed. :(( :(( :((

Ok, rant over. On to next week!

I just bought tickets to the UM-ND game so I could take my Dad (he's an alumnus). I'm already excited - should be a blast!

Well, OSU had a fairly good showing, winning 42-0 against Akron. These preseason games against the Ohio teams are always a bit dumb and you don't get much of a chance to see how the Bucks will fare against some decent competition. Miami will be here before long, which im not even looking forward to the game since the whole time will be spent by the "analysts" discussing the legal problems of both teams.

Did you know its been 2844 days since OSU lost to Michigan last? That's almost 8 yrs. Just wanted to throw that out there.

ETA: yes, I know it really isn't "preseason" but its pre-Big 10 so until they get into Big 10 games, it feels like a preseason.

I am sorry that you could not watch that game, it was an exciting game. Georgia kept trying to get back into the game and it was not until the final minute or so that we felt completely comfortable here in Boise.

vc10um - GO BLUE! Saturday's night game was AWESOME. I mean, the beginning was terribly boring. We were complaining how unexciting it was and then BAM! DH was actually on the floor in the basement with his head in the pillow saying "OMG I can't handle this anymore!" In the 3rd quarter he was like "Okay, it's over...we lost" I'm like "Are you serious..there's SO much time left!" Then when it got down to like a minute or so left and they were losing he says "Oh we have plenty of time left to score!" And of course, they pulled it off! He said his heart was beating so fast he was ready to have a heartattack! :-o My SIL's husband is a ND fan and he was so mad after the game haha. My BIL and I went halfers on the under the lights jersey for my DH for his birthday which he loved! How'd you like the new jersey by the way?

Missy! GO BLUE! I still haven't been able to really put Saturday's game into a set of words that don't involve cursing up a storm. I was hoarse as heck after the game and I just watched it in a friend's basement!!! It was freaking insane! And SO worth staying up for (my bedtime is usually between 9:30 and 10:30, LOL)!!!

As for the UTL jersey, I didn't really love it or hate it, but I think it was a one-off...I don't think they'll be wearing it again.

Seemed pretty cheaply made, though, since that one player was totally able to rip the hem off Denard's jersey and Denard was STILL able to complete that pass!

OSU vs. Toledo last weekend was awful. OSU needs to get it together. I actually had a discussion with my doc this morning about it. He was there (of course) and said it was nerve wrecking. Glad they pulled out the win, but the Big 10 is ugly right now.

My doc said, "I have 2 days a year when I root for Michigan to win: if they (ever) make it to a bowl game, and whenever they play Notre Dame. Not a fan. Pity either of them get to walk away from the game with a W." Teee-hee.

Gotta admit, we watched the ND vs. Mich game and it was intense! Such a great game whether you're a fan of the teams or not! Think that means more night games will be schedule from here on out, yeah?

My little lady should be here by game day this weekend, so looks like she will rock an OSU onesie on Saturday
