Repairing filigree/engraved jewelry

I have a filigree ring with engraving on the prongs and one of the prongs has broken off. Is trying to fix something like this just too difficult to attempt or would it be easy enough to do? The stone is either glass or a synthetic ruby or spinel and the metal is 14k white gold.
