Miscka, I pump at 10:30 and 2:30. N eats at about 11 and 3 with MIL. Pumping on the half hour is just easier for me for scheduling purposes. I'm pretty fortunate in that currently no one else uses the Mother's Room in my building so it's all mine!
Cara, we don't heat all of the milk each time. MIL will shake (starting tomorrow it will be swirl or stir!) the jug to mix the fat, then poor 6oz into a bottle for N. Sometimes, there will still be little *floaters* in the bottle and warming takes care of that. To be honest, I really don't know if this is *right* but it seems to be working. I wouldn't be able to pump directly into bottles for him to eat from because I often overflow into another bottle so I'll have one with the foremilk and one with the hindmilk. It's funny you mention S eating from one side. N just turned 6 months and he started doing this over the last two weeks. It stinks because I sometimes feel like I have to pump the other side. I know I should just let my body adjust to his needs but I'm so PARANOID about my supply dipping!
LV, we've never supplemented. My milk came in really early and my supply has been pretty high. A couple of times we dipped into the fridge or freezer but haven't had to use formula yet. I'm guessing that it'll take a bit to build up to a lot of milk with the pump since it's not as efficient as the baby. I hope your LC is able to offer you some good pointers so you can get that kiddo on the boob!
