I love the Liquid Flower cut ( a new design in 2010) in the Songea Sapphire - very nice. Setting a stone in the right color setting is aslo very important when doing custom work as mentioned. It's very common to see a light yellow diamond set in yellow gold to make the stone seem lighter/brighter. When it comes to colored stone it is even more important. I agree that a cutter can be mislead by a dealer on the treatment of rough stone. But an experienced cutter, one that has been cutting for years - if not decades, has a network of suppliers that they can trust, and in turn the consumer benefits from that knowledge - expert knowledge that is rare at your local jewelry store. The take away here is that when you find a dealer, cutter, merchant, etc., you can trust, your chances of being mislead is very very small. A first class cutter like Uli from Osirisgems prides himself, and his reputation, on being straight up about all the gems he cuts.
