Where to sell outdated platinum and gold pieces in NYC

My apologies if this is not the forum to post -- but I am looking to quickly sell a very heavy platinum ring that is now out of style, and also possibly some 18K white gold rings I no longer wear. I'm in NYC and am worried about hitting up the diamond/jewelery district for fear of getting "taken". These are 2 substantial pieces that I had custom made years ago, if anyone has suggestions for a reputable vendor that buys and sells both gold and platinum I would appreciate a point in the right direction.
