What song are you using or did you use your for your first dance?

We are thinking "Everything" by Michael Buble except neither of us can really dance and the beat is too fast to just sway to.

"Marry Me" by Train

Forever can never be long enough for me
Feel like I''ve had long enough with you
Forget the world now we won''t let them see
But there''s one thing left to do

Now that the weight has lifted
Love has surely shifted my way
Marry Me
Today and every day
Marry Me
If I ever get the nerve to say
Hello in this cafe
Say you will

Together can never be close enough for me
Feel like I am close enough to you
You wear white and I''ll wear out the words I love
And you''re beautiful
Now that the wait is over
And love and has finally shown her my way
Marry me
Today and every day
Marry me
If I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe
Say you will

Promise me
You''ll always be
Happy by my side
I promise to
Sing to you
When all the music dies

And marry me
Today and everyday
Marry me

Our song was "just the way you are" by billy joel. My husband's kind of old school, so it was very likely to be billy joel, frank sinatra, or something similar :)

we're dancing to "if i could build my whole world around you" by marc broussard & toby lightman (originally marvin gaye & tammy terrell). it's not "our" song---we don't have one. we chose it because it has a happy feeling & we liked that it's a duet. ETA: ohhh, and there's lots of opportunities for spinning, which is my favorite

Aww I walked down the aisle to that song! I love it so much.

Our first dance was "Vermillion, Pt 2" by Slipknot. Yes, Slipknot. It''s a beautiful song though.

Not 100% decided yet, but so far we are thinking "If I ain''t got you" Alicia Keys..

Some people live for the fortune
Some people live just for the fame
Some people live for the power yeah
Some people live just to play the game
Some people think that the physical things
Define what''s within
I''ve been there before
But that life''s a bore
So full of the superficial
Some people want it all
But I don''t want nothing at all
If it ain''t you baby
If I ain''t got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain''t got you
Some people search for a fountain
Promises forever young
Some people need three dozen roses
And that''s the only way to prove you love them
And in a world on a silver platter
And wondering what it means
No one to share, no one who truly cares for me
Some people want it all
But I don''t want nothing at all
If it ain''t you baby
If I ain''t got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain''t got you
Some people want it all
But I don''t want nothing at all
If it ain''t you baby
If I ain''t got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain''t got you
If I ain''t got you with me baby
Nothing in this whole wide world don''t mean a thing
If I ain''t got you with me baby

Our first, and only dance (we had a tiny afternoon reception) was Someone Like You, by Van Morrison.

Our wedding is the happy ending after both of us living through heartache and tragedy -- him losing his highschool sweetheart to cancer after 25 years of marriage, and me losing my highschool sweetheart to his devastating midlife crisis after 26 years of marriage.

We loved the part where he says "Just lately I have realized the best is yet to come..." We both thought our worlds had crashed and there was no more happiness left for us. And now we''re over the moon!

"Grow Old With Me" by Mary Chapin Carpenter. I still have no clue how I''m going to hold it together during the dance as I cry now when I hear the instrumental in the beginning!

Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one
God bless our love
God bless our love
Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting sun
When the day is done
God bless our love
God bless our love
Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end
Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it through
For our love is true
God bless our love
God bless our love

"I''m Your''s" Jason Mraz is "Our Song", but we''re using it as our exit song down the aisle after the ceremony. He said he didn''t care what I chose for our first dance. I''d really love a slow melodic waltz, so I''m choosing Flightless Bird by American Mouth. It''s poignent, and little dark, but bittersweet. The lyrics are hard to understand, with all the underlying meanings, but I love the feel of the music. It fits.

I have always dreamed of my first dance to be "Could I Have This Dance?" by Anne Murray. I have never questioned what song I would use.

When I was a kid this seemed like "THE" first dance song. I know it's old fashioned. My boss has already made complete fun of me. We can't waltz and I guess you should to this song, but who cares.

I'll always remember the song they were playin',
The first time we danced and I knew,
As we swayed to the musi and held to each other,
I fell in love with you.

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we're together, it feels so right.
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?

I'll always remember that magic moment,
When I held you close to me.
'Cause we moved together, I knew forever,
You're all I'll ever need

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we're together, it feels so right.
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?

I start tearing up just reading the words, when the music plays I cry like a baby.

"I Don''t Wanna Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith :)
Our first date was to an Aerosmith concert, and thus, this was the first "slow song" we ever danced too.
And the lyrics are so "us"!

nice list!!! i really like first day of my life, but we both decided way before planning anything that our first song would be "better together" by jack johnson. it all started way back when my fiance bought me an ipod nano and engraved "better together" on the back. the lyrics match our relationship really well :)

There''s no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard,
No song that I could sing
But I can try for your heart,
Our dreams, and they are made out of real things,
Like a shoebox of photographs,
With sepiatone loving,
Love is the answer
At least for most of the questions in my heart ,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it''s so hard?
It''s not always easy,
And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I''ll tell you one thing, its always better when we''re together
it''s always better when we''re together
Yeah, we''ll look at the stars when we''re together
Well, it''s always better when we''re together
Yeah, it''s always better when we''re together
And all of these moments
Just might find their way into my dreams tonight
But I know that they''ll be gone,
When the morning light sings
And brings new things,
But tomorrow night you see
That they''ll be gone too,
Too many things I have to do,
But if all of these dreams might find their way
Into my day to day scene
I''ll be under the impression,
I was somewhere in-between
With only two,
Just me and you
Not so many things we got to do,
Or places we got to be
We''ll sit beneath the mango tree now

I believe in memories
They look so, so pretty when I sleep
Hey now, and when, and when I wake up,
You look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time,
And there is no, no song I could sing
And there is no combination of words I could say
But I will still tell you one thing,
We''re better together

We haven't had our reception yet and we don't plan to have a "first dance" when we do, but we know our last song of the night will be "Into My Arms" by Nick Cave :)

I don't believe in an interventionist God [NB - neither of us does!]
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Not to touch a hair on your head
To leave you as you are
And if He felt He had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms

Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

And I don't believe in the existence of angels
But looking at you I wonder if that's true
But if I did I would summon them together
And ask them to watch over you
To each burn a candle for you
To make bright and clear your path
And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love
And guide you into my arms

Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

And I believe in Love
And I know that you do too
And I believe in some kind of path
That we can walk down, me and you
So keep your candle burning
And make her journey bright and pure
That she will keep returning
Always and evermore

Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

We are having "You''re My Best Friend" by Queen. It fits us really well as it is a more upbeat song that isn''t too mushy but the sentiment fits the way we feel about each other.

We don''t really have a "song" for our relationship, so I have been trying to pick something out for the first dance. I was listening to a lot of old standards (1930s to 1940s), but then FI picked out the song "Bubbly" by Colbie Calliat. We listened to it frequently when we were first dating - it was always on the radio when we were renovating a rental house together. I think we are going to go with it!

"I don't wanna miss a thing" by Aerosmith....It is "our" song and it means a lot to us...It was the first song that i rushed to listen to right after i met my husband...It spoke straight in my heart...

"I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
Far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Well, every moment spent with you
Is a moment I treasure

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Lying close to you
Feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we're together
And I just wanna stay with you
In this moment forever, forever and ever

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
Well, I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
I just wanna hold you close
Feel your heart so close to mine
And stay here in this moment
For all the rest of time

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
'Cause I'd still miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep, yeah
I don't wanna miss a thing..."

Memories, memories.......

Lucky by Jason Mraz since we were long distance until shortly before the wedding so this works for us.

This song got us through many nights 400 miles apart! We hold it near and dear!

We actually danced to Answer by Sarah McLachlan. Very sloooooow and soft and sappy, just like us!

We decided to do an upbeat first dance. We did a rhumba/swing to "Buena Sera" by Michael Buble. We took some dance lessons before the wedding and had so much fun--wish I had another excuse now for dragging DH to dance lessons!

Nkarma, have you considered dance lessons? A couple of my friends who don''t dance at all took lessons, too, and successfully did a foxtrot first dance at their wedding. They had a good time with the lessons as well, and since we seem to all be going to weddings left and right, there are plenty of opportunities to break out the dance moves later, too.

Smile- Uncle Kracker

You´re better then the best
I´m lucky just to linger in your life
Cooler then the flip side of my pillow that´s right
Completely unaware
Nothing can compare to where you send me
Lets me know that it´s ok yeah it´s ok
And the moments when my good times start to fade
You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed
Sing like a bird
Dizzy in my head
Spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh you make me smile
Even when you´re gone
Somehow you come along
Just like a flower poking through the sidewalk crack and just like that
You steal away the rain and just like that
You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of
bed sing like bird
Dizzy in my head spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh you make me smile
Don´t know how I lived without you
Cuz everytime that I get around you
I see the best of me inside your eyes
You make me smile
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed
sing like bird
Dizzy in my head
spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh you make me smile
Ohh you make me smile
Ohh you make me smile

We are thinking ''Everything'' by Michael Buble except neither of us can really dance and the beat is too fast to just sway to.
My dad and I danced to that for our Father/Daughter dance, we just did a really basic foxtrot. I can dance, but he can''t! And it was perfect.

DH and I danced to ''Groovy Kind of Love'' by Phil Collins, nice and slow and easy to sway to... he isn''t a dancer, either!
