thoughts on proposal in front of friends?

Hello everyone.. Just wanted to get some thoughts on proposing in front of some friends/family at dinner. I was thinking about having a small dinner with close friends and family and popping the question with some champagne.

Doesnt sound very original, but I think my girl would be surprised.

Are you planning to pop the question in front of your guests? Could you propose earlier in the day/evening and then have everyone over for a celebratory dinner? Personally, I would prefer a more private proposal (i.e. just the two of us) but everyone is different. Do what you think your SO will like best. Good luck!
