Basically, how low can you go?

I got a phone call from a diamond merchant today, and he said he has a beautiful 1.01 H VS2 Emerald cut for a very fair price. Will it look a bit yellowish? Should I ask him if it is eye clean?

It's just a matter of taste. An H won't look icy white (what grading lab is the stone?) - depends what you like and making sure you have realistic expectations - an H is an H and won't look like an E. I personally wear an L, VS2 asscher, and ADORE it, but white it ain't

The lab is DCLA, its a grading lab as well as a diamond trader. They only trade diamonds that they grade themselves though.

i dont find that very reassuring. There is a reason GIA and AGS are the gold standard so to speak

H VS2 if reliably graded is my cutoff for an EC ( if eyeclean) unless the poster doesn't mind a hint of warmth in lower colours. It won't look yellow but it won't be icy as Erica says, is it your usual vendor Cindy? Could you get an appraisal on the diamond where you are?

Hi Lorelei,

No this is not my usual vendor. My usual vendor has told me that I would have to wait till sometime(they''re not even sure) next year to see their new ECs... I am just looking elsewhere too see what my option are. Jogia is still my preferred vendor of course, since they are in Perth.

No harm in taking a look Cindy. I would ask him if it is eyeclean to your standards before taking the time to see it.
