Ummmm NO! lol I''m 41 yr YOUNG and so not the same as my mom or grandmother at 40 yr old. Didn''t you hear????? 40 is the new 30? Seriously I feel like I did when I was 30....had my 3rd child at 40. I can tell you that many 20 somethings see 40 as old..but when they are in their 30''s...they will have a change of heart~
35.gif

ok annette - let''s see it - can you throw a photo up? one day we''ll have lunch - and how will i know how to find you?? my photo is about 4 posts back... (or is that your whole master plan? you wont NEED to post a photo cause you''ll just look for me?!)

seriously - would love to see a photo. :)

lol Kareyn....I posted one just for you!

I don''t think 40 is old at all. Nor 50 or 60, even 70. To me 80+ is old now.

As for looking my age, well I think I do, but that''s okay.

I think in general most 40 - 50 year olds look pretty darn good, as evidenced by the pictures in this thread!

Okay, some people here know my age, but many do not. This a recent picture (within the last month or so) of me playing with my dog Roxy.

Be critical. If you saw this person on the street, how old would you think she was?
Thirties - - ish.

I hear we peak at around age 21.

Then everything starts to decline and wear out because the systems of the human body were ''meant'' to last about 37 years.
Humans older than that become a liability to their tribe.
They couldn''t run, hunt, hear, see or work as well anymore.

So cheer up you 40-yr old.
You should be dead.

I''m thinking I can find the feathers . . . anyone out there got some tar?

Do you consider 40 old?

I''d better not, since I''m a good decade past 40!!
9.gif

I''ll have you know, you young whippersnapper you, that I''m dressed in non-mom jeans, with a sexy little top, and sporting an of-the-minute cute bob hairdo. Even my makeup is young. So there.
2.gif

I may walk funny when I first get up in the morning, but I can fluff, buff, paint and spackle with just enough panache to fool everyone but Mother Nature.

My mother didn''t look this good at 50, and I''ve got the pictures to prove it!
25.gif
Spackle?
25.gif
You know. Spackle. Well, it goes by many names, I suppose.

My spackle of choice is undereye cover. Got. To. Have. It.

Other people use something it to ''fill in their grooves''.

You are asking this question, when in September I will turn 60??????

Good Grief!!!!!!!! I feel wonderful and NO NO NO NO 40 is not old, it is the beginning of your life girl.

At my age, I still feel young. I look young for my age, or so I have been told. I do not dress old.

I am throwing a big birthday bash in September for some of my high school classmates. We hired a DJ. It is going to be at my house. YES, we are going swimming, bbq, and dancing to that good old rock and roll music.

So... ask me now is 40 old??????

To answer the question, no I don't consider 40 old, and I'm sure if I was 20 I wouldn't say that

I'm going to be 45 soon and just found the fountain of youth in a very expensive bottle of Chanel Lift Lumiere! I swear this foundation erased years from my face and even though it's pricey, it's still less than Botox and Restylane

I definitely don''t see 40 as old. My parents are the most fit and active 53yo (mom) and 60yo (dad) that I know. I am 28, and if I am as fit and healthy at 40 as my parents are now, I`ll be ecstatic. My DH is going to be 40 in few years, but he still looks (and acts) as 25...

I think it depends on the person. I know people who are 40 and over who look and come off as much much younger. And they do it effortlessly. No fake tanning, plastic surgery, creative lighting/photography involved. I think it has to do with the energy you give off, how you treat others and how you live your life and contribute to society. Other 40 yr old ladies I know or know of are just haggish. They''re so shallow that their bitterness shows through all their efforts to hang onto their misspent youth. I truly believe in Karma and one way it can bite you in the a$$ is through aging.

For the record, we have some KNOCKOUT 40-yr old and older ladies here on PS...

I wasn''t trying to be ''kind''..and I''m not the kind of person who says what I think people want to hear. (kinda like a suckup, brown noser, or whatever the correct term for that kind of person is..lol). I am an honest, straight forward person, call it like I see it! The question was ''how old would you think this person was''..and I answered it honestly!!

Having just turned 34 I definitely don''t think 40 is old, but then again 10 years ago I thought 30 was old, so it''s interesting how our perspective changes as we get older
1.gif

As for how old/young someone looks, in my twenties I always looked much younger than I was (I had a baby face) and I HATED it. I hated being asked when I went out to lunch during a working day if I had the day off school, I hated being asked for I.D every time I ordered a drink in a pub and most of all I hated being told how young a I looked, because when you are in your twenties and people think you look like a child it makes it very hard to be taken seriously. The worst incident I remember was when I took a friend along with me to help me pick out some reading glasses and the man in the shop thought she was my mother! This was seriously insulting to both of us as she was only a year older than me.

Now that I am in my mid-thirties and have two kids I find this sort of thing almost never happens and it is actually a relief to have a face that is finally starting to match my brain - and believe me I feel every one of my 34 years in all ways good and bad. However, I must confess I can now see the logic behind all those comments I used to get about how flattering I would find being told I look young once I was in my thirties.

LOL Richard, you are such a sweetheart.

I don''t think 40 is old, but then I am nowhere near that age. I don''t think any age is old as long as you feel young!

I'm almost 6 years away and my husband is only 3 years away from the big 4-0. I don't consider it old but I'm not looking forward to it either.

ETA: Apparently I forgot how old I am. I meant to say that I have 5 years to go (almost 4) until I turn 40.

I used to, but not anymore. I know that it is because I am older now. In fact, I cannot wait to be 40.

I am 27 and cannot wait to be in my forties. I think the little wrinkles at the corners of eyes are nice. I welcome them. To me they are a sign of wisdom. I guess I feel this way because 20''s are hard. It is an uphill battle to get to where you want to be.
