Hi everyone...as I familiarize myself a bit with this cut, I find myself more and more curious about the "oval" vs. "squarish" cushion...could those who have Cushion diamonds please post a pic with the ratio to provide me with a better idea of what range I would prefer? I don''t want too much of an oval shape, I think I may be partial towards a bit more square- but just how square I don''t know?

Thank you!

To add to MrsS's excellent advice, here is a shape selector that might be useful, select the option for ovals and cushions.

http://www.gemappraisers.com/shapePickerNew.asp

Also always ask for pics of a cushion if buying online, also an ASET image can be very useful. It can be best to stick to a vendor such as Good old Gold, Engagement Rings Direct etc who have the diamonds in house and can advise you accordingly.

You have some great links to look at, so definitely check those out. One piece of advise though. When I started my cushion search I limited myself to a L/W of 1.08 to 1.12 becuase I wanted more of a square look; based on all of the PICTURES I saw online. That was a big mistake on my part. I ended up seeing a 1.10 and 1.21 (that''s what I ended up with) side by side and my though process totally changed. I''m not saying that you don''t know what you want, but from my experience things really look different when you see them in person. Just something to think about.

1.21 L/W

Very good point Pauley...you did exactly what I wanted- thanks!! I am sure I will not be certain until I see it in person, but wanted to see just for a basis of comparison...the diamonds look so different loose, vs. set; in person vs. online, etc...

thank you again...your ring is Beautiful btw...

Mrs S.,

7.80 divided by 6.72 = 1.16 to 1
