Oh and re the other thread that started after I did this, I don't receive any perks or kickbacks for this. I am a long time customer who wanted to share. I have been here on and off for two years but tend to lurk rather than post.

Wow Caro! You've been busy!!! Your collection is fantastic! (And I love that you reworked your Tahitian strands into a rope).

I looooove your mixed WSS/Tahitian harvest strand. Those ripples too! :appl: :appl: :appl:

You can see I suffer every pearl syndrome. I am quite obsessive and collectory and people around me think I have a problem :)
The SS/Tahitian mix strand is very special. I both this one and the Tahitian literally off the seller's neck - they were for sale but she was wearing them. This is where I started with pearls - I went ignorantly into the high end but haven't regretted it.

Ok last one from me. I can't capture the colours with what I have. This is bronzes again.
Thanks all for your kind comments :)

My goodness. Those Tahitians (all of them) and SSs are to die for. Excuse me, I think I need to lie down...

Caro40 - Ooh, these are beautiful!

I'm particularly smitten with the strands in the first picture. They look like my ideal ripples I picture in my head, but haven't been able to find yet. Do you mind clarifying which pics/item numbers correspond to this first picture? Like you, I'm trying to "read" Catherine's pictures, and knowing more about yours would help a lot!

No worries. The picture directly above shows the two strands I joined in the very first picture. Pretty much everything I have called the bronzey ripples are those strands. The previous page shows me wearing them over a white top and that's them on a caesarstone bench top.

If you want different photos I can try and take some tomorrow. In daylight they're more lavender, some kinds of indirect light they pop with iridescent purple, and other lights they're goldish. And completely depends on the colours I'm wearing, which is why I went for shorter necklaces as well as ropes. I love ropes but they can look drab on some of my clothes. The normal length strands just contrast with my skin so I can wear more of a colour range in tops. As a Melbourne person I am pretty much obliged to wear black, which doesn't bring out the best in my pearls :)

Thanks caro40, that's really helpful! Gosh, they are gorgeous. I think I know what's going on my Christmas wishlist this year.

No you are perfectly normal, and we understand you!

Just keep those pictures coming, what a treat! I like all of them, but particularly, the SS mixed strand and the off-round Tahitians. Now I need to go back and stare more...

More photos would be wonderful if you are willing to oblige!

That is a good point re: outfit colors. I do tend to wear more black and grey, which I'd imagine brings out the brown in ripples? The idea of a rope is appealing, but you're right that the shorter length could work with more outfits. What is your favorite length in these ripples, if you don't mind my asking? The strand in the second photo looks like a great length on you!

It's late here so I'm off to bed but I'll come back to you in the morning with photos.
Perfect normal necklace length is 19-20 inches, all the shorter ripples I'm wearing here are 19.25 inches I think.
My perfect rope length is 36-40 inches. 38 is spot on.
But it depends on body type. I'm large in the chest so anything between 20 inches and 35 inches doesn't work. The shorter end of the not so good spectrum gets lost in my cleavage (and I generally wear v necks to try and make my chest look smaller) and the 35ish length just hangs over my chest like a shelf. Or a stranded abseiler.

What an interesting pearl collection, so colorful     , this makes me want ripples! I love your new PP off round strand, how was it described, multi color? Just wondering does any one know what is the percentage difference in off rounds vs. the ovals we are seeing          ?

Ok so I have taken photos with my phone and tried some different lights and colours. First the bronzey ripples. In the photos I am wearing the two combined still because it's easier to get a shot of the rope that way. These are outside in bright or close to bright sunlight. They show the rope as shiny but not as colourful.

Then there are some of the ripples on white paper inside in indirect light, one has the rope and the shorter ripple one as well. This gives you a baseline for colour. The pictures on the different coloured jumpers show the rope only in exactly the same spot within a few seconds of each other.

Different background colours, different effects...
It's like the dress that broke the internet! :) Is the necklace purple or gold?

More...On the purple and maroon jumpers the rope looks dark gold and bronzey but the camera doesn't pick it up what I'm seeing as clearly. I tried to get a better shot up close with the purple background.

Now for the PP round/off round pearls. I took screen shots of the PP site when I bought them, so the below is a cropped version of three screen shots. I hope they work. I bought these in the Black Friday sale.
I see now they were described as round to near round.

Now my photos of the PP strand. Basically they all look pretty round to me and you don't notice the off rounds on the neck. The last photo show the least round, sightly squashed peacock, and I haven't captured it, but there's a longer eggy one to the left. I'm actually only noticing others aren't quite round now I'm staring and looking for it.

Last one. I was trying to do better with the blacks, because my picture above looked like a pink smear. The problem with the black seems to be how the camera adjusts. So I tried the below and you can see that the colours still come out on black, maybe not as much obvious variation. I took another shot of me wearing the rope (doubled) but I can't get the colours in a neck shot.

Sorry I forgot the light blue jumper. The one above where the rope looks gold is a lavender jumper.

Whoa, this series of pictures is SUPER helpful! It will definitely be a reference thread for me as I try to sort out the confusing world of ripples! I can't believe the huge range of colors the pearls can display when placed on different backgrounds. It's hard to pick a favorite.

You have the most amazing collection!

That round Tahitian strand speaks to me! I also love all your CC pearls, I have a number of strands from Catherine too!

I've been curious as to how to read her photos also. Lovely strands!

Thanks. It's worth my being clear that these are not great shots - I see a lot more than what's here. And the camera seems to adjust in ways I can't control.

I don't expect a great deal from any of my pearls in direct sunlight - ripples go shiny browny lavender and Tahitians go dark grey. But in the indirect light they are extraordinary. I know it doesn't look it, but every pearl in my recent ripples has metallic lustre.

Ripples are hard to read and the only way I got to understand them better - and by ripples I mean the ones at the start of this thread - was when I had an impulse moment on the bronzey rope and thought 'why not'. Seeing them in person was something else. Everything else looks a bit plain to me now. And I thought I wasn't interested in the shapes and the wrinkles and the blemished look that some have but it turns out that the metallic nature of them and the colours that come about from those features make them better than anything else I own in terms of rainbows and statements....I love the figgy drops now after having spent some time wondering what people saw in them, and I'm coming around to the slightly horned ones too. My bronzey rope has lots of comma shaped ones that stole my heart but I don't tend to see many of these around.

Cathy will send you additional photos if you ask, she's very very good and has always responded well to what must be frustrating requests from me to see just one more thing, just one more photo etc :).
