Kasumi Keshi Rope from Kojima

It wasn't out there for very long. I was doing my rounds of my favorite pearl vendors this weekend when I opened the necklaces from Sarah at Kojima Pearls and I nearly fell out of my seat. A 42" pink and lavender rope made entirely of Japanese Kasumi keshi pearls. Out came the credit card and the rope was mine. This is one of those pieces that I will never see coming at me down the street.

As I mentioned, it arrived today. So excited. It is every bit as gorgeous as I was expecting. Sarah does great work.

Finally, Sarah included a special gift in with my purchase. A pearl brooch. It is gorgeous.

Yeeeee! Oh yes, this was my definitely my favorite addition of all Sarah's new listings! For one, NEVER have I seen Kasumi keshi pearls but then the way she arranged them in all their beautiful shades is just so divine. How wonderful that it was you who ordered them and that you've received them already, congratulations on a spectacular find!

They feel great on, and I love the way Sarah arranged the shapes and the colors. I wore it to work doubled this week, and I love how they add color and have presence, but are not as formal looking as white round pearls.

One thing I am considering is switching out the clasp for 14k gold one. We'll see. Stuller has some where you can add a small keshi in the center of a gold flower clasp. Josh of Kamoka Pearls has some on the latest strands on his web site, and I am loving the look. Then if the clasp migrates to the front, which happens a lot with my necklaces, it still looks great.

Actually, I already asked Sarah if there were a couple of keshi about 7 mm in size that could be made into stud earrings. It turns out that all the keshi in this batch have been drilled through. However, she is saving up to purchase another collection of Kasumi keshi from another farmer in a few months. I'm thinking that would be the time to do the clasp switcheroo.
