I almost hate to post this as it may create some competition for items I really want but Pearl Outlet is having their June monthly sale starting this Thursday. It is their normal type of sale with multiple items for sale all at once.
There are hints of Tahitian / diamond earrings, Golden Akoyas, and South Sea pendants... Julie |

I''ve been eyeing that up for a while too, and unfortunately, it may not be the monthly special anymore for long. I''m still supposed to be saving money right now.

Do you think they''ll take it off when they post the new sales page tomorrow? |

I don''t know. I haven''t known about that site for very long, I was just thinking that since they''re changing the monthly sale page that they might change the monthly special too. The price of that is the same as the 7-8mm Freshadama strand from pearl paradise. I was wondering how big of a difference you''d see between an 8mm strand and a 7-8. I hate to miss out on the special but the money saving isn''t going too well. I justy couldn''t resist the graduated strand. Whoops

I have no idea if they''re in fashion or not. When I went out pearl shopping I found an 18" graduated mikimoto strand that I liked better than everything else. I liked the way it sat on my neck, like it was meant to be there. Unfortunately, I couldn''t afford them.

I would ask them about the 8mm strand, what the size actually is. Freshwater pearls are measured in either full or half millimeter increments. This means that the 8mm strand is really either a 7-8mm strand or a 7.5-8mm strand. |

Having heard about the Daily Deal at Pearl Outlet on this forum, I decided to get the AAA gray freshwater necklace and earrings that were featured last week. Unfortunately, they''re just not that great. The gray was much darker than the nice silvery color pictured, the lustre wasn''t what I''d hoped for, and the texture wasn''t very smooth. They kind of looked like a necklace made of gunmetal which is definitely not the look I was going for. So back they went today.
I''ll be interested to hear others'' experience with the Daily Deals because I''m reluctant to give them another try. |

I know there are people who really love Pearl Outlet. My personal experience has been kind of "Eh." Personally, I don''t think that a lot of the stuff they have on sale are much of a value - like $8 for sterling silver button freshwater earrings isn''t a value to me. You can get them for two bucks. That being said, I do think that there are times when they really do have high quality values - like the 9 mm gem freshwaters for $350. I''ve been underwhelmed by my most recent sale purchases. I ordered the AAA ROUND south sea pendant and earrings. All three pearls were noticeably off-round. My husband always tries to spin things in a positive way. When I told him they weren''t round he replied, "No, they''re round ... but squished on the top and bottom." They were also dimpled and scratched in several places on each pearl. This isn''t the first time I''ve ordered a ROUND necklace and found they''re definition of round isn''t actually round. I ordered a multi-size necklace a few months back, and the smaller pearls were noticeably boroque and the larger ones were oblong. I think they have some really cheap stuff and some high quality items. You just have to be careful. |

They updated the monthly special to read 7.5-8 mm. |

Oh no. I haven''t gotten my graduated gem necklace yet and there is a re-stocking fee. I hope I like them! I was actually very tempted by the gray AAA freshwater strand and earrings, but I''m going to guess that they''re the same as the ones that rainwood didn''t like. Maybe I won''t, as a gunmetal necklace doesn''t sound that appealing.
Good to know on the 7.5-8 though. Thanks, brightlight. |

I don''t think you''ll be disappointed with the quality of the gem graduated necklace. However, you may prefer a different shade of lavender. I also personally prefer graduated necklaces shorter. |

Some of the Tahitians they have are just gorgeous and really affordable. And I like the south sea dangles, but they''re 8mm, and I think if I were going for 8mm dangles I''d probably pick freshwaters. Kelli, maybe you''d want to get a pair of freshwater earrings to test them out and then go for a strand? They had the gray freshwater strands on their Mother''s day sale page also, so I''m guessing its something that they can get in easily.

I did, I bought some earrings to match a necklace I bought last month for my mom for Mother's day. She is excited about that! hehe Oh man I want those silver akoya's from PP though! I am debating if I would wear them that much or not? |

Ok I have a dilemma. I have several things I want to buy but can''t buy all of them. So help me pick. currently in my cart are:
1) 7.5-8 mm golden akoya necklace AA+ $410 2) 8.5 mm AAA gray freshwater studs $38 3) 8.5 mm AAA gray freshwater necklace $190 4) 8.5-9 mm white freshwater necklace - gem quality, $350 So it''s really a toss-up between 1 and 4. I want the grays - I saw someone''s grays on the show me your pearls thread (sorry for blanking on who!) and I''ve been wanting some since. Plus the price is great and the size is great too. I''ve been wanting bigger white freshwaters since I have an old strand of tiny pearls and they''re definitely practical since I pretty much wear pearls every day at work. But the akoyas look sooo different and special...but the thing is, they''re more expensive and I don''t wear yellow gold jewelry. Thoughts? |
