I love the clasp you have used .. very simple and elegant.

I also agree that big fat pearls would be great hanging off the ends.

Ladies, when I enquired about CRDkeshi's clasp for my new rope, Chenai said PP has the orbit clasps (used for the provoked baroque strands) that are very similar (26mm).

The gold link clasp that BN used is 220. The orbit clasp is 165.

The gold link clasp that BN used is 220. The orbit clasp is 165.

fyi: the PP orbit clasp link above is for the 13x5mm size, with list price of $165.00. Most of the references to the orbit-style clasp in this thread seem to be for the larger size, which is not included on the PP website clasp page. I was told that the orbit clasp is 26 mm in total length, so maybe 13 mm refers to just one side of the clasp?

I just don't know - judging from the other PP clasp listings which include length/width dimensions, I would have assumed the dimensions refer to the entire clasp, not each component separately. And would it even make sense to list the dimensions for only one of the two components of a clasp? I mean, that wouldn't be very helpful info because you still wouldn't know the total length of the whole clasp. Maybe it is a small version of the orbit, or maybe there's a typo?

Looking closer at the Rio Grande orbit listings, the last line in the Description states: "please note: Overall length indicates the length added to your strand by the clasp." As Rio Grande terms this a "14kt Yellow Gold Hook and Eye Clasp," I would tend to think Rio Grande's length dimension refers to both the hook and the eye components of the clasp.

Oh, the Rio Grande 14kt YG 31mm version is $140.01 and the 40mm version is $271.33.

Mozo, I did receive it and there are pictures of it on page 2 and a few on page 3 where I'm wearing a jade colored top. But I'm going to start a new thread on it because I love it so much and the title of this thread is misleading since I had the WSS removed.

I talked to Chenai at PP and Rio Grande about the clasps on Thursday. The PP Orbit clasp is 26 mm total length and 8-9 mm in width for $165. (There is a mistake in the listing for the Orbit, as it says "13 mm x 5 mm (Fish-2-GB)." That's the size of the filigree fish hook clasp.)

The Rio Grande clasps are 23 mm x 6 mm ($77YG/$85WG) and 31 mm x 10 mm ($140YG/$148WG).

The PP Orbit costs a little more than the larger RG clasp, but I went with them anyway because the width was best for my strands since the smallest pearls are 9 mm. I'm excited to have finally made a choice and now I just have to wait for the strands to be strung.

The gold link clasps are just slightly smaller at 19 mm x 8 mm, but I think the Orbit will have a similar effect. I do love the scale of the gold link clasp on Baby Nurse's rope. I'm curious to see whether the Orbit can link between the pearls as a shortener/lariat clasp. I'll post on the Tahitian sale thread once I get my strand.

Thanks for those calls Kay, I knew that had to be a mistake..it would have been way too tiny at 13mm . The clasps at Rio seem to be very well priced, made in Israel as well...I've never really ordered much from RG but I'm quite interested in the big one or the Orbit..I just love the shape.
