i found out last night (through a slip up from him and some probing from me) that he chose the diamond weeks and weeks ago!!

he is dealing with a seller from belgium (SO is french and has connections with him i think), and the seller happened to be in SO's city some weeks ago, and they met and SO saw and chose the diamond (as well as most of the smaller ones to be in the band).

he even showed me the certificate over skype yesterday :) the main specs are RB, 1 carat, E colour, very good cut, VVS1, excellent polish, no fluorescence. he said it sparkles like crazy and it was a particular favourite of the diamond expert as well :D

now it's safely back in belgium, where it will be used by the jewellers making our ring. i had a bit of a miserable day yesterday, so all this exciting info cheered me up no end! it really feels real that we are getting engaged soon now... so exciting.

haven't told anyone in real life and don't want to, so thanks for indulging me :)
