'Brilliant' in gemstone lingo, means a facet pattern where the main facets on the back side of the stone come to a point at the center, called the culet. There are several other options but that's the most popular at the moment.

Square means square, although there's an interesting boundary in deciding at what point you call it a rectangle, a rhombus or a trapazoid. Call the boundaries whatever you like, but I'm inclined to say that if it looks square it's ok to call it square.

Moissanite is the material (note: this is not the same as synthetic diamond, the subject of this forum. Public confusion here is one of the REASONS for this forum).

Princess is a brand name of square brilliant and modified square brilliant cut diamonds. It's become generic in the same way that frisbee has become generic, even if you're not actually talking about products of Wham-o. People who are wishing to be precise use the term 'flying disk'. By the way, a coke is correctly called a 'cola beverage' for the same reason. Try ordering that next time you're at the drive up and see if the clerk even understands what you want.

Is it ok to call your moissanite a princess cut? Sure. It's probably not technically correct, but that's what everyone else calls it. While you're at it, enjoy a nice cola beverage.
