Oops, I already replied on the other thread. I''ll repost:
I was faced with the same delimma. I think I''ve tried on ever style of trinity ring at Cartier multiple times. I finally decided a couple of months ago that I absolutely wanted a trinity band and went back to Cartier several times to make sure. When they informed me their prices had gone up (again!) I decided it just wasn''t worth it. I ended up ordering the 18k tri-color band from rollingring.com and I am SO glad I did. I''ve even compared my ring next to the Cartier ring at Cartier and the colors are identical. For me the extra $750 in savings was completely worth it. If the name is important to you, I know that the trinity ring does pop up on signed pieces (none there now) and several PSers have had luck on Ebay, though that is riskier. I found a couple on Ebay in my size for around $400 - $500, but I was a little apprehensive about it. I didn''t plan on wearing my rolling ring every day because I got it as an alternative for my e-ring and wedding band. Most days I wear the rolling ring, though. Even when I decide to wear my e-ring and wedding band, I wear the trinity ring on my right hand and so far it''s held up really well. One last thing--long before I found PS I ordered the Trinity One in a size 56 (I cancelled the order) which is equivalent to a 7.75 in american sizes. When I ordered the rolling ring from rollingring.com, I decided to get it in an 8 and I''m glad I did. |

Personally, if it''s a matter of a few hundred dollars, I would get the piece that is the original. Even if that meant saving up for the actual item that inspired others. That''s me personally. I am not one for the replicated versions, because I think if something is good, then THAT is what make others want to replicate it, so the original MUST be good. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
In NY, the Cartier rolling ring is $950, last I checked. I don''t think it''s unreasonable for something of it''s weight and make. It''s a quality piece and makes something that would be lovely to hand down to a daughter one day. Again though, I would rather buy less but have them last longer, than to buy many things and have more of a variety. Many people who get the alternate versions are happy, and many get several types, to have the variety, and I think it depends on what you like and your inclinations. |
