This is HRH Princess Marie of Denmark. This photograph was taken in the end of 2008, when new official photos of the Royal Family were presented.
I have a question about her rings. Look at the small pic of her hands. Why is she wearing her engagement ring on her right hand, instead of the usual left hand with the wedding band? Have you seen the other diamond and sapphire(?) ring? Thanks in advance. Bobby

How impolite I am!
I saw Estelaris' posted, then replied to one of them, but never welcomed the new member! So, Welcome, Estelaris! And Thank you for stopping my posts of the British jewels. I'm glad you posted pics of rubies, because as you know they're the stone for July:) Congratulations for the avatar! I love sapphire and the Logan is a magnificent example! Bobby And another ruby tiara - This one was a wedding present to Princess Margaret of Connaught by Eduard VII and Alexandra. I don't know about you, but IMO most ruby tiaras are disasters. Notable exceptions are the Danish (Frederic's) parure, the Oriental circlet and probably the Greek ruies.

I can only speculate. Might it be because her fingers were swollen since she was expecting at the time? (She was expecting; I have no idea whether her fingers were swollen!) AGBF

Thank you, AGBF! I never thought about that possibility. Mimmi might be right as well, but Princess Marie wore the ring on her left hand when the engagement was announced (first post on the forst page). |

The Royal Collection has a new exibition called "Queen & Commonwealth". There are many objects conected with the Commonwealth: gifts, orders, gowns.
The Spray brooch was given to Elizabeth II during the State Visit to Sri Lanka in October 1981. The royal collection says that it''s set with precious and semi-precious stones . What do you think they are? I''d say sapphires (blue and coloured), garnet, tourmaline, citrine, maybe some rubies. I''m not sure what the cabochons are. Suggestions, anyone?

Hi, Tourmaline Lover! The Danes have a rather modest jewellery collection(compared to the Swedish and British), but they compensate us with beautiful princesses. Here is a Princess from the previous generation - Princess Anne Marie, later Queen of Greece, wearing the ruby necklace and hair pins that was a 18th birthbay present from her parents. I think HM was the most beautiful princess from a reigning house at the time. Now even at almost 63 Anne Marie is an attractive (ex)Queen.

Hi, Lori!
It''s nice to hear that HM Queen Anne Marie is one of your favourites. She is one of my favs too. I''m not sure where the picture came from, but maybe it''s from The Alexander Palace from the Constantine II & Anne Marie thread. Here is Queen Anne Marie again. Apart from the watermark I think this is my favourite picture of The Queen. The occasion is either a pre wedding or a royal birthday. You can see a pair of diamond cluster earrings with pearl drops, a four row pearl necklace (Princess Diana wore an almost identical one) and a Tuti Fruti(?) brooch. I think AM''s also wearing a diamond pendant, but I''m not sure. I also like her coiffure. Actually that''s the way I want my mum to have her hair done. Bobby

Here in Bulgaria it's already 30 July, but the date on my previous post in still 29, so I'm not late.
28 years ago a young Lady bacame the third woman in The United Kingdom. Years later the 19 years old ex-kindergarten assistant became a fashion icon and a woman loved by millions of people all around the world. This young lady was our BELOVED Diana, Princess of Wales. As you know Lady Diana wore The Spencer tiara, which through the years became one of her trend marks, and her mother's diamond earrings. Yesterday (28) I was watching extracts from the wedding on YouTube. Probably some of you have watched it then in 1981, but I was born many years later, so that was the first time I was watching it. Link to the video: Royal Wedding Of Charles & Diana And a picture of the happy couple:

Today is the 28th anniversary of the most famous (and infamous) royal wedding of our time: the nuptials of HRH The Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and The Lady Diana Spencer at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. The two were wed on the morning of July 29, 1981.

Here is the groom''s granmmother - HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother in Westminster abbey - wearing her diamond drop earrings and the waterfall brooch and a three row (anyone surprised?). As far as I know the brooch was originaly Queen Victoria''s and was worn many times by QEQM pinned on her bodice and IMO it lookes much better worn as like that (bodice).

Hi, Estelaris! Are you searching pictures of a certain jewel or the collection in general? I''d start with the tiaras: The big tiaras were originally Queen Ena''s. The ones that are still in the family are: Fleur-de-lis, a Pearl & diamond and a Scroll. The ones that came with Queen Sofia are: The Hanoverian greek key, a pearl and dianond shel shaped one and a flower thiara. One of the last two was Gen. Franko''s wedding present to the new Spanish princess. Parts of a large ruby and diamond necklace also can be worn as a tiara. Here is a picture of the Fleur-de-lis (sumbol of the Burbons) and VE:

This is the Scroll tiara also from Victoria Eugenia. The original owner had the pearls replaced by emeralds so that they mached her emerald jewellery. This picture was taken in 2004 during the wedding of HRH The Crown Prince of Denmark and Miss Mary Donaldson. The diamon earrings are also from VE's collection.
BTW I don't know if this tiara has a name. I call it "The Scroll Tiara", because of the shape of the panels.

Here is the loop tiara. It remindes me of a tiara that Britain''s Queen Mary wore when she became Princess of Wales, but this one has pearls and the loops aren''s empty.
Also presented are long sappfire and diamond earrings, a modern diamond necklace and a F-de-L brooch from Queen VE. I don''t know why, but the necklace and earrings IMO are gifst from state vists, rather than objects that The King had given her.

This is The Hanoverian tiara. The first persone that I''ve seen wearing it is Princess Victoria Louise of Hanover, Duchess of Brunswick. She gave it to her daughter Frederica. In 1962 the tiara was given to Princess Sofia, in 2004 Leti wore it on her wedding and now it''s her tiara. So it''s sth like a wedding tiara for the Greek/Spanish royal family.
