The Duke & the duchess of Windsor had a lot of dogs most of them pugs. May be this has inspired this brooch/pin.

ok.......just a bit more ancient egyptian royal eye candy...this one was king tut''s..and from the 18th dynasty. i love that these royal pectorals all could be read as a text..very interesting approach to jewel making. and as a point of interest..our modern royal clan crests were derived from these pectorals which are strikingly similar to the many forms of coat of arms we have today! hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hi!
why, certainly, i''d be happy to add more egyptian royal jewel pics! i have so many, i''ll try to keep them straight! but if i post one or two twice, my appologies!:)
you mentioned king tut''s beautiful royal pieces, so, here''s the famous scarab pectoral to begin with.
scarab is lapis lazuli, a stone the ancients held in high regard for it''s beauty and tranquility. this stone was used through almost to modern times as a paint mix to make the beautiful lapis blue you see in the centuries old cathedrals with the beautiful murals we all admire still today!
the red stones you see are carnelian and the light blue of course are turquoise. these three stones along with amethyst, are the most used and reveared of ancient egyptian royalty. they were considered sacred..and as a moo point....amethyst purple is of course still very highly prized and used by our modern royals...and it''s colour is considered "royal":)

here we have a better photograph of the Princess Sithathoriunet''s coronet. with the cobra as a protective symbol of the royalty of egypt and the rosettes that surround this solid gold piece, you can imagine the weight of this piece...

here we have the original gorgeous royal pectoral of Princess Sithathoriunet, (top) and my replica (bottom)..both are of solid gold, both contain lapis lazuli, carnelian and turquoise. the wonderful pectoral is to be read as a text, basically saying "God grants life and dominion over all that the sun touches (ie. the whole world) forever, to the king senworset II." although it uses his throne name of kah khe pare...and the Princess would wear this and become part of the charm to protect the king and bring about the statement made by her pectoral. when her father passed away and her relative senworset III took the throne, she had to have a second pectoral made that had the new king''s name within the cartouche...i''ll add that one for you to see.:)

hello!
so, here we have the second pectoral of our Princess Sithathoriunet. notice the name change in the center cartouche, along with a few other changes..not the least withstanding, the poorer quality of the goldsmithing...like with any royal jewels...some are fantastic..some not so much! lol..

and the reverse..the wonderful thing about almost all of the egyptian jewels is that they bore the completed design from their front, etched out again on their reverse...so as to hold up under close observation...
jenna:) sorry the photo is so small...it''s very hard to find one of this pectoral in colour...

a beautiful royal pectoral from king tut''s collection...with 2 royal baboons and a scarab on the sun barque...wonderful detail and workmanship. can you even imagine the skill of the goldsmith 3000 years ago?
i have not yet seen any who could match the skill carried out by these artists in the ancient royal jewels in modern times...

this amethyst and solid gold anklet belonged to Princess Sithathoriunet. she had two of them. in ancient egypt a lot of the time pieces of royal jewelry were made in pairs. they adored uniformity..
