resizing my ring

hey everyone! im new here~
i just recently got a ring that my bf gave me for my bday! he gave it to me in a size 5.5 but my ring size is a 5. im scared that its going to fall off my finger so i want to resize it. it has an opal on it and i was wondering if it was possible and if anyone new a place i can do it in manhattan!

It depends on what the ring is made of. Gold? It should be no problem to resize it a half size, but I'm sorry I don't know about jewelers in Manhattan.
