Can this be done? It is the 5mm love ring with diamonds in the band. Should be ok sizing down just 1 size right?

Actually, no - it would be very difficult to do without ruining the ring's symmetry - and value. If neither of those matter to you, a very, very good local jeweler should be able to do it.

Personally, I wouldn't.

Sizing down would require removing some metal, ruining the spacing of the diamonds, as VRBeauty said. I wouldn't do it. Have you thought about sizing beads? They should be fine for a size down and they can be removed later, if you like. If you are near a Cartier store, I would take the ring and ask them their opinion.

I don't think so. But if you try it, only let Cartier do it.

I would avoid resizing.
You might find a dealer with the size you're looking for and work out a trade.

That is actually two sizes as rings are normally sized in 1/2 size increments.

Likely to be problematic, you have received good advice to let Cartier do it, if it can be done.

I have to agree, I really would not size it. I think it's better to look to find a swap or sell and buy, or try to get the beads!
