Buying Diamonds in india????

I am about the biggest newb around so I was looking for a lil advice.
My boss is going to india and I was thinking that it might be a good opportunity to buy a really nice diamond for a future engagment, at a great price. Has anyone had any experience buying loose diamonds in india? My boss has about the same knowlege of diamonds that I have, size, color and clarity...lol. We are not in the diamond business. Anyone think there will be a problem with customs? Anyone know what diamonds are running for in india? Any help would be much much appreciated.

You will probably waste money. Donate 1/2 your money to a charity and spend the other 1/2 on a diamond from the search by Cut quality section (home page) or any other safe and secure place in your own country with the laws that protect you, and you will have saved 50% of your money.
