I have not been a good WW this week. I don't think the scales will be particularly good to me, either! I'm trying to brace myself - I don't think I have been as bad as the scale is seeming to indicate. I was down quite a bit on Friday, but since then I am up.....
I'm trying to be good the rest of the week to make up for it. We have eaten out several times, went to a festival and I have been shopping, etc. so my normal eating is out of whack.

I'm sorry people are giving you a hard time regarding the commute. I should mention that my commute isn't too long in distance, but long in time. It is just that it will take me about 30 minutes to get to the train station, 50 minute train ride and 10 minute walk. Public transportation is convenient, but I have to admit I prefer driving. I'd much rather be in my car than sitting on a dirty train next to random people! But driving into/parking in SF is expensive, so I'll be taking the train. When I was in Chicago my commute was about 1hr 45min, so I suppose this is better! Is the new location far distance wise or time wise? What type of work do you do? Is it probable that you could find something closer to home?

Well here's to hoping this is one of those I've been bad and lost weeks!

My commute is far time and distance wise. It's in Fort Lauderdale which is about 90 miles away and an hour and half with no rush hour traffic. Fort Lauderdale is a very populated area south of West Palm Beach so rush hour is bad.

I'm an ultrasound tech. I do all general, OB and vascular ultrasound and I love my job. I'm still looking hard for something closer, there just isn't much out there. I think everyone is upset too because my boss is awful. He didn't pay us for our last week there, closed us down because he got mad, I've had multiple payroll checks bounce. He's just not a good boss, or person really. I'd like to not go back to work for him but I don't see another avenue to take right now. In this economy I think, at least it's a job and most of the time the paychecks clear. 8)

Hi, ladies!

I've been on WW for a little more than a month now and have lost 12 pounds at last weigh-in! That's a little misleading because I had the stomach flu my first week in and ended up losing 10 pounds that week, but still. I then stayed about the same for a couple weeks until I finally started coming down some again last week. I hope I can keep this going.

I tried on wedding dresses this weekend and that was pretty good motivation.

That is excellent Merilenda! How did wedding dress shopping go? I wish I would have started WW before my wedding.

Stepcut, ugh - your old boss/situation does sound truly horrible. Here's hoping something better comes along before you have to make the final decision. My FI and I want to buy a house, but we have been holding off to see where I find a job. So we're hoping to be able to get something that will be a little more in the middle for both of us, especially since we're less than 10 miles from his office!

Merilenda, congratulations on the weight loss!

I think I found the dress I'm going to get, I just need to go have measurements done and buy it, I guess. I should probably get on that soon (I'm such a terrible procrastinator). I did feel like the dresses made me look way bigger than I do in street clothes though! Which was sad, but gave me motivation to keep going with the weight loss. I especially can't stand my arms!

FI is sick (he usually cooks and grocery shops) and we're out of food at home. Which means that I'll probably have to go pick something up for dinner. Hmm. Need to think of something healthy. Hope everyone is having a good week!

Merilenda-Can we see a pic of the dress? Are you sure it's "the one". I ask if you are sure because almost every dress I tried on did did make me look bigger than I am, like you said. However the dress I ended up getting slimmed me and gave me a definite figure and made me feel good wearing it. Just some food for thought!

Aryana-Thanks for the support. I hope the job works out and you guys can buy a house that helps your commute a little. I will actually be moving further away in August. Me and my husband both owned houses so I have rented mine out for the past few years and we have lived in his. The neighborhood has gone bad quickly and my renter is moving out in July so we are going to be moving about 15 minutes more North of where we are now...which might make my commute an hour and 45 minutes! :errrr:

Just a thought but have you considered doing a weigh in, in the mornings? I know my weight fluctuates through out the day and there is less fluctuations in the morning before eating, drinking, etc. You might find doing so more of a real number. Or maybe weigh in the mornings of your meetings at home and use your home weight as a record? Just something that crossed my mind. Good luck with weigh in tomorrow!

My friend took some pictures, but I don't think she's uploaded anything yet! Actually, I like my figure in the dress I've chosen. It definitely gives me a defined waist/hourglass shape. I think my body looked the best in another dress, but I really have my heart set on lace. It was the second dress I tried on, and it made my waist look so tiny that I considered buying it then and there! But I just didn't like the back all that much and I felt like I'd really regret not having the lace. I think my biggest complaint is my arms in a strapless dress, which isn't going to be helped in a different style (barring something long-sleeved, haha!)

I can't figure out how to save the picture from the website, but I'll post a link to the dress I want:
http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product...-waist.-S8551_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns

Unfortunately you can't see the dress all that well because of the way the model is posed. But it's covered in lace and beading. It's really exactly what I see myself wearing. I want to see if they can modify the neckline to a sweetheart though, because part of my problem is a boob issue. I think the sweetheart is more flattering on me. Because of the way a lot of dresses hang, I think my D cups make me look bigger than I am if that makes sense.

Mer-I feel ya on the arms! I HATE my "bat wings" and I did a strapless. I just made sure for any side pictures I was doing something other than holding them flat against my body! The dress you picked is beautiful! I had my heart set too on a vintage-y lacey look. I ended up with a ruffly chiffon modern dress! But...as soon as I tried it on I had no more thoughts of lace I knew that was it. And yes, I agree boobs can make people look bigger. I don;t really have that issue ;( but I have seen small girls with quite large boobs and it CAN make you look bigger. I suspect there has to be a way to help with that area, but since it's not a problem for me, I'm clueless!

This weeks weigh in for me was down 1.2lbs. I'm not unhappy with it but up until yesterday I was down 2.2lbs. Though I did sorta have a before bedtime date last with night with half a pint of Ben & Jerry. Oops.

Merilenda - good luck on the dress!

Stepcut - congrats on the 1.2! I know the feeling - I weigh less before weighin time and then something changes and it goes up!

As for me, I missed yesterday. I wasn't real good over the weekend (I didn't think I was all THAT bad) but I've been good since then. But everytime I stepped on the scale, my weight was going up. At one point I was up #*@* 5 (yes, five) pounds. How can that possibly even happen??? Anyway, I just didn't have time to go yesterday and I haven't weighed myself since the 5lb episode!

A lot has been going on in the last several days - I accepted the job offer and have been shopping for new clothes. And since I won't have a lot of vacation time this year, I came up with the 'brilliant' idea on Wednesday that we should go to Italy before I start working (fortunately my fiance's work has a flexible environment and are letting him off without a lot of notice). Planning a vacation 2 days in advance has been quite busy! This could be the best trip of our lives or the worst - we'll see! Ha ha - we don't even know what there is to see. I just looked for locations that we could get to using frequent flyer points, so that is where we are going! So, probably no weight loss coming my way since I plan to eat a lot of gelato!

Good luck and I'll check back in when I return!

Stepcut - great job on the 1.2 lb loss! :appl: I unfortunately did not have a similar result when I weighed in this morning. Somehow I'm up 3 pounds since last week. I seriously wanted to cry, because even though I did eat out a couple times last weekend, I stuck to pretty healthy choices. And I've been good all week. But I did start my period yesterday, so I guess maybe that could be why. I do feel kind of bloated. I'm trying not to get too discouraged.

Aryana - Congrats on the new job and have fun on your trip! I'm so jealous! Oh and I definitely feel you on the whole scale going up thing. It's so discouraging!

I'm so sorry for your gain! I'm almost certain it's due to hormonal shifts. I'll be interested in seeing how my week plays out. I ate ALL my extra weekly points tonight! :errrr:

Here to a better week!

How's everyone been doing this week? We went to the buffet at the casino on Monday. It's so hard to estimate points in that kind of setting, but I just kind of figured that I used most if not all of my weekly points. I've been pretty good other than that. Oh, I did also have one mini blizzard at DQ. Those things are tiny though!

The super discouraging thing is that this marks that 2nd week that I have NOT LOST. I'm getting so frustrated, because I've been doing really well sticking to the diet. The thing is, I know that my clothes are fitting a little looser. It's just... :angryfire:

5 months out from my wedding, I set a goal to lose 20 pounds. I thought it was a realistic goal (works out to about 1 pound per week). But at this rate, I'm not losing anything at all. Ugh!

No up and no down for me this week. The exact same weight as last Friday. To be honest, I wasn't upset by that as earlier in the week I had two very large meals out and polished off a pint of my friends Ben & Jerry in two days. So no gain was a win for me!

Don't get discouraged. I had a solid month where I did not lose a single pound, then on the 5th week I lost 4lbs! Its kinda crazy like that.

Haven't you already lost around 10lbs? If you still have 5 months left I don't think you will have any trouble losing 10 more before the big day.

That makes me feel better that you dropped 4 lbs all of a sudden! I'm not new to dieting by any means, but I feel like it gets harder to shed the pounds as I get older, you know? I'm hoping that happens for me. I have lost about 12 pounds so far since March. I kind of got the 20 lb goal into my head in April though, so I was hoping to lose the 20 in addition to the ~10 I've already lost. I need to focus less on the scale, I guess. What's most important is how I look - not the number. I should get some measuring tape so I can start measuring inches lost maybe.

I know what you mean by having a bad week and then just being glad you didn't gain! I had one of those last month where things got a little out of control for a week. I mean, I try to be realistic. I know that having a couple meals out isn't going to cause me to gain weight, as long as it's not a daily thing.

I also find that the longer I go eating healthy, the less I crave certain things. At the buffet earlier this week, they had a Chinese station (which I usually want ALL THE TIME) and I didn't even feel like checking it out.

Big +1 to that! I find if I can tough it out for about 10 days I'm good and don't crave or care about certain foods. But once I get a taste of it, it sets off cravings that are hard to put off.

The month I was not losing I started measuring and I did lose 1 inch that month. Also, if you do end up losing just 1lb per week you would lose 20 by the wedding. But maybe set your goal a little less so you don't get disappointed? Like 10-12? You would still be down 20+lbs by your wedding. 12lbs is alot to lose in a month. I was the same way though and everyone told me that same thing about how it was too fast, etc. I didn't care, I was just happy to be losing! It's slowed way down now, but every now and then I'll get a spurt of weight loss (like the 4lb week) and it makes me hang in there when it gets tough.

Hi - I'm back. We had a great time.

ACK - I am afraid of the scale. When I walk past it I scoot to the other side of the room, as if it were going to bite me. When your goal was to eat gelato at least once a day (I wanted to have it twice a day, but never got around to it) the results are bound to not be too promising in the weight loss department! I doubt the miles we walked burned off the pastries, cappuccinos, gelatos, pastas and wines I consumed. But, until I step on the scale I can delude myself that it isn't that bad. I'll work up the nerve eventually.

Stepcut - congrats on the maintenance. It is worth it to splurge occasionally and not worry about weight loss.

Merilenda - I'm sorry you are having a rough time right now. Plateaus stink.

I came down about a pound this week. I know I'm losing inches though, because I went back to order my dress yesterday. And the first time I went to try it on, the size wouldn't zip. This time, it totally zipped all the way! It's even loose in some parts, but it's too tight in others. So they're ordering the next size up anyway. Since it's easier to take in the parts that are too big than take out the parts that are tight.

Aryana - You've got to enjoy yourself while on vacation, so don't feel bad about that! It'd be a shame to go there and not enjoy all the fabulous food. Definitely worth it, even if there's a little gain. Glad you had a great time!

Stepcut - Yeah, I like having a general weight loss goal in my head with a timeframe in mind. But really, I'm just going to stick to WW, eat as healthy as I can, and exercise. If that doesn't result in the 20 lb loss, then so be it. It's all I can do!

I did attempt to start the 30 day shred again this week. My legs are so sore after the first workout! I might try day 2 tonight since it's Friday and at least I won't have to hobble around the office tomorrow.

+1.2lbs for me this week! ;( ;( ;(

Welcome back Aryana! I've been wondering how your trip was all week and secretly hoping you were eating all those delicious things! Maybe try no weigh in this week and start back next week? I think that's what I would do!

Super bummed about my gain...but back to the grind. Going to add back in my daily walks this week, I had a sinus infection and it's pollen central here so I had been skipping the daily walks.

Meri-Yay for the dress fitting better and having a great look out! :appl:

I so hear you about the pollen! My eyes and sinuses get so irritated when it's bad out.

I'm down another pound this week! Hopefully I've finally kicked the plateau. I've been doing really well with my eating, but totally terrible with working out. I've been exercising once a week, if that. I might look on Netflix instant watch tonight and see if there are any good workouts on there. Maybe that would be a way to change things up frequently and not get bored.

Hope you ladies are having a good week!

Sorry I haven't posted much recently. I started my new job on Monday and have been wiped out when I get home. Yup, the 3 hour commute is kicking my butt!

As for WW, it has been on the back burner for the most part. When we got back from vacation I spent 3 entire days trying to buy a new wardrobe. Sounds fun, but it really wasn't! NONE of my old work clothes fit, so I had to buy everything. I still need more, but I'm tired of shopping. I think I dropped a few pounds from all the clothes I tried on!! And then with starting the new job, WW was just more than I could handle at that point. I didn't weigh in this week, either - I have now missed 4 meetings - eek! Between the prep for the last minute vacation, vacation, jet-lag and new job, I haven't made it. Also, I am going to have to change my meeting date/time beause I can't make a 6:30pm meeting :((

I don't really know how much I gained on vacation. We walked so much, it seems unfair to have gained! I think it was a few pounds (totally worth the gelato, wine and pasta!). But when I weighed myself the other day, I was back in my fluctuation range (albeit the upper part!). So, I am hoping to get back to where I was and then back on the wagon. I try to make good choices, but this week I found that difficult. I know a lot the struggle is because I was so 'off' WW on vacation that I'm finding it hard to go back 'on'. So, I've got to get my head back into the game. I am going to try to get some food organized over the weekend.

Stepcut - have you decided about the job yet? The commute, coupled with 8 hours work and a lunchbreak are exhausting... After Week 1 I am SO over it! I have done a longer commute in the past so I know that it takes time to adjust, but right now it stinks!

Good luck ladies -I hope we all have a great week!

We forgive you! Your week sounds exhausting and I wouldn't be on much either! I'm still tracking but I can't say I've been all that on plan lately. I'm not sure where my motivation went but it's not currently here. I'm so glad you had a nice time with good food and drink on vacation! I'm also really sorry you are having a hard time with the commute, I sure do hope it gets easier for you.

I had a job interview yesterday that I think I will get at a location only about a half hour away from my house. If I do not end up getting I will most likely take the job 2 hours away from home but I really do not want to. In addition to being so close to home this new place seemed like a really good fit for me and I felt really comfortable there so I'm hoping this will work out.

Here's to hoping for better week for you and a good week for us all!

Sounds like we're all in the process of changing jobs! I don't want to leave my current job. There are some definite issues going on with the agency, but in all, it's a pretty cushy job. FI works in a field where it is much more difficult to find a job (hypothetically, I can work anywhere). He accepted a job halfway across the country recently. He starts in August, so we'll be moving later this summer. That means that I need to get cracking on my job search.

It's just been soooo busy lately. Trying to plan our (albeit small) wedding, plan a move, find a new job, and continue working fulltime in our current job. Plus I have to have dental work done on Friday, and I'm terrified! I'm so scared of the dentist.

I had a horrible weekend (diet-wise, I mean). We went home for Mothers Day and FI and I ended up splitting an ENTIRE medium pizza. Plus we both had like 4 beers. The next day, we grilled and then I had a blizzard.

I'm back on track starting the new week, but I'm so scared to weigh myself later this week.

-0.2lbs. I'm not so on diet right now. I was getting really worn out on weighing and measuring and all so I decided to take a break and just eat sensibly for a week and then go back on WW.

Hope your weeks went well ladies!

PS-I got an email today from the perspective new job that references have been checked and now they just need to do some internal work (I'm assuming writing a job description since its a new position and figuring out pay, etc) and then they will call me to give me an update. Hopefully I'll know if I have it or not next week.

ETA-Hope the dentist went ok this week Mer!

I'm so not on WW right now, either :(( I am still finding it hard adjusting to such a long day. I want to start taking lunch and snacks so that I can stay on the plan, but haven't gotten to that point yet. I'm not a big sandwich person, so it is hard to find something to take for lunch that is portable and easy. I cut up a bunch of fruit so I plan to take some of that with me this week, but haven't figured lunch out yet.

I want to get back on the program, but I am struggling. I am still paying for the meetings but have now missed 5 meetings - I need to decide what to do, because it is silly to pay for something I am not attending. I'm bummed, because I was so close to goal #1. I just am not sure what the best way to achieve my goal is at this point....

Hang in there, girls!

ETA - GOOD LUCK on the job front. I really hope it works out for you. =)
I hope the dentist appointment went well, meilenda!

I'm really thinking of doing Atkins for a few weeks to see how it works for me. There is some weighing measuring (no more than 6oz protein and 20 grm carbs day) but it seems like less work. I'm not sure why I'm having such a resistant attitude to WW, I've lost 20lbs on WW! Yet, I'm feeling like it might be time to do something else? Granted, this past week i've not been on plan, but I've lost not 1 collective pound in 6-8 weeks. I feel like my size and weight is bothering me now that I've lost a decent amount of weight than when I was 20lbs heavier!

I'm not ready to say I'm giving up on WW but I think I need to try out another option. Atkins has a bad reputation but I did hours and hours of reading up on it last night and it's not the eating fatty steak and drinking butter diet I thought it was. I need something to cut the cravings out for donuts and ice cream. I don't give into those cravings often but I'm tired of having them! It seems most people on Atkins or a like diet lose the carb cravings. We want to at least attempt to get pregnant last year and I have a very solid mind set that I would like to not be over weight when getting pregnant for both health and vanity reasons. If I were to get pregnant now I would just look like a whale and I have a mind set of looking cute and having a little baby bump, not just looking so big no one can really tell if I'm pregnant or not. That might sound awful but I'm an ultrasound tech, I see babies in utero all the time and I know the baby AND mom do better if mom isn't very heavy to begin with.

Sorry, I'm just on a rant and needing a change.

I'm sorry you are struggling Aryana. I hope your week goes well and you can find some healthy options to take to work!

Ok, I'm thinking maybe Atkins is too much and maybe I should give WW an honest go again but to try more protein and less carbs? I don't want to give up carbs for a few weeks, drop weight and then gain it back. I just really need to lose some weight for my mental sanity.

I tried Atkins for about one week in college. About a week in, I was walking up a flight of stairs to one of my classes and I was so out of breath and started getting chest pains. Yeah. After that class, I immediately went out for pancakes. I know it's worked really well for some people, but that experience made me skeptical that it's something that works for me.

I know what you mean though about just getting so frustrated when the scale isn't moving. I've always lost about 3 pounds this week, but it's because I had that dental stuff done. I can't believe the dentist told me I could actually work the day after the procedure. I've had a lot of post-procedure pain, and the Vicodin makes me sick (even when taken with food). I had the stuff done on Friday, and I've got my fingers crossed that I'll feel well enough to go back to work tomorrow (Wednesday).

Yesterday, I went to work and felt (and apparently looked) so terrible that my boss told me to go home. I had some soup and took a Vicodin. Well, my pain got better for a while until I started getting terrible nausea. I spent the rest of the day unable to hold any food or water down. Today my pain was better, but I just felt so terrible from being dehydrated and not eating for the last couple days. I ended up sitting on the couch all day drinking Gatorade. For some reason, the only thing that sounded at all appetizing to me was a donut, so FI went out and got donuts. Poor thing went to the grocery store 3 times today. Once to get me Gatorade, once to get donuts, and then once to get ingredients to make mashed potatoes for my dinner. He's taken such good care of me.

I'm kind of afraid that my weight will shoot back up once I'm fully recovered though. I keep seeing food on tv and thinking "when I feel better, I'm going to reward myself by eating that..." So far, we've agreed to hit up the casino buffet after I feel well enough. Oh and I've decided that we're grilling hotdogs.
