Oh my goodness! I hope I did not offend Kenny.

Are shrimps offensive?

I'm planning to bbq burgers and corn on the cob...that is if we get our propane tank filled! Still need to do that.

Tomorrow we're going to the baseball game, and Friday we are going to a meat cooking competition... the husband has been dry-aging meat for the past two months in preparation. So I have no idea of exactly what we will be eating but it should be delicious.

Maybe he's planning to cook them up when they get bigger? :cheeky:

I had pet fish for years and it never bothered me when people cooked up fish, but I pretty much quit eating fish after setting up my aquariums.

I am JEALOUS! Will you be trying the other meats, or just enjoying what your husband has put together?

Trying others as well! Otherwise how will they be properly judged? While most of the things my husband does will be grilled and then allowed to rest for a while, he also recently got one of those sous vide things from Williams Sonoma so he is doing an experimental batch cooked in that. So that should be interesting to try.

We are having friends over and I'm not sure what is on the menu, BUT I've had such a taste for ribs for the past week! It seems every which way I turn I see ribs. :(.

I celebrate by going out to eat what my mother calls TexMex. We're both vegetarian and I love 4th July but now live in another country. We can't barbecue in our block of flats so Mexican it is! DH always laughs at me, teasing that when I crave American food I actually mean Mexican food. I'm not sure that there is such thing as vegetarian American food though and I grew up in TX and GA so lots of Mexican food.

Today is my mother in law's 86th birthday, every year we spend the 4th with her.....sigh.....anyway we are having fried chicken..she is not big on BBQ...however we are going to grill a few hamburgers and hot dogs as not everyone likes chicken, we have a varied menu today depending on what everyone decides to bring..I do know I will be having wine to cope with all the in-laws :naughty:

MC, I am pretty sure I couldn't/wouldn't eat seafood either if I worked with aquariums! Just saying . . .

Have a Happy 4th of July! :wavey:

My husband just went to the store, so I don't know what he is grilling yet! I am happy with whatever it is since I don't have to cook!

Thanks, Rosetta, and happy anniversary!

We are going to try grilling pineapple chunks on skewers, along with veggie kabobs, black bean burgers, soy dogs, and a couple marinated portabello mushrooms. I made a 7 layer bean dip yesterday that I've already gotten into several times!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy day/night!

My husband dry-aged meat a couple of months ago and it turned out well. He's also into sous vide cooking. He made (separately) hamburger, steak, pork chops, ribs and caramel. They were all really good, but the ribs were the best. Very tender. He's also really into his new mandolin slicer and stovetop smoker. http://www.amazon.com/Camerons-Products-Gourmet-Mini-Smoker/dp/B000231AXG

Enjoy your meat competition!

Medium rare coming up! Will you be bringing Mrs. DF? She and I could have a great conversation about hair conditioners; we would get along wonderfully! =)

We did. DH cooked everything on the grill - tenderloins wrapped in bacon, corn on the cob, assorted veggies (potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, onion, mushrooms). It was delicious. :lickout:

We enjoyed a great grilled feast with neighbors then migrated to another neighbor's home for margaritas and more food. The best part was that we got to bring our 13 month old, who is walking, talking, and eating! She loved socializing and being a general pain in the neck. We put her to sleep around 9, her usual bedtime, then everyone came to our backyard where we grilled more and set off a few piddly ground fireworks.

A good, festive evening was had by all.
