Well, the dating era for me was back in the early to mid nineties, so any Erasure song brings back memories. Oh, and Soft Cell''s "Tainted Love."

Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You. It was played at our wedding.

Also,-and don't laugh- My Perogative by Bobbie Brown. It was the first song we ever danced to at a party we were at...

One Hand One Heart (from West Side Story). I sang this song to Websailor during our marriage ceremony which brought tears to his eyes and to those in the pews (I was later told). At the reception, I heard my father saying "I knew she could play the flute, but didn''t know she could sing".

Cflutist, my mom sang "One Hand, One Heart" at my best friend's wedding. I'd never noticed it being appropriate for a wedding until that time, but a nice choice. We had Luther Vandross' "Here and Now", and Restless Hearts' "I'll Still Be Loving You" sung at our wedding and had our first dance to Natalie Cole's duet with her dad "Unforgettable". Circa 1991.

Life goes on...........................2pac
Anything off the Metallica Black album (good memories)
Oh what a night (not sure who sings it but I had my first "real" kiss when that song was playing)
Harpoon................................Jebadiah (this was like my high school break up song)
Twisted ..................................Keith Sweat

And there''s like 100''s more that I can''t think of right now but when they come on the radio then I start jumping up and down and screaming "OMG this is the song reminds me so much of .........................................."

Well, let's see John, I'd guess that you are about 38-42 since I'm 40 and remember those songs at about the same stages you do!

The Journey songs really bring me back. The second cassette I bought for my '77 Triumph Spitfire was Journey "Escape". That was somewhere in 1982. The first one was REO Speedwagon. Does "Keep On Loving You" jog any memories?

Post college-- Journey "Raised on Radio" album--very nostalgic!!

Pear - (sigh) Can we just call it "30-something" for now? I'm not coping as well as you are with being nearly the same age as the Superbowl...

Too many Xs!

...Keep On Loving You was great tunage, but never a concrete dating song for moi.

John,
The way I look at it is turning 40 is better than not turning 40.
2.gif
I for one don't want to die young and leave a good looking corpse! Life is pretty good now at 40 I must say. It's all how you look at it. That said:

One box of Miss Clairol Loving Care haircolor $7.00
One tube of Olay Regenerist anti-aging cream $17.00
One pair of no line bi-focals $300

Using all three and having people tell me I only look about 32--priceless!!
9.gif

I never said I was aging gracefully--I'm fighting it all the way!!

Pictures of you
They''re still on my mind
You had the smile
That could light up the world
Now it rains
It seems the sun never shines

And I''ll drive down
This lonely lonely road
Ooh I got this feelin''
Girl, I gotta let you go

''Cause now you''ve got to fly (fly high)
Fly to the angels
Heavens awaits your heart
And flowers bloom in your name
You''ve got to fly (fly high)
Fly to the angels
All the stars in the night
Shine in your name

You know it hurts me
Way deep inside
When I turn and look
And find that you''re not there
I try to convince myself
That the pain, the pain
It''s still not gone.

Still I''ll drive down
this lonely lonely road
Ooh I got this feelin''
Girl, I gotta let you go

But now you''ve got to fly (fly high)
Fly to the angels
Heavens awaits your heart
And flowers bloom in your name
You''ve got to fly (fly high)
Fly to the angels
All the stars in the night
Shine in your name

FLYYYY!!!

Ooh yeah
And still I drive down
this lonely lonely road
ooh I got this feelin''
oh I can''t let you go
BUT I KNOW that you''ve got to fly (fly high)
fly to the angels
Heaven awaits your heart
And flowers bloom in your name
You''ve gotta fly (fly high)
fly to the angels
All the stars in the sky
SHINE IN YOUR NAME YEAH
OW! ooh--ooh--ooh (repeat)

I''m gonna miss you
gonna miss you girl.

Strm - Beautiful... How about some "ANGEL"?

Cflutist
1.gif
- Have I told you I adore your taste?

An interesting, but obscure, companion to Dvorak Sym #9, mvt IV is Hindemith's Symphonic Metamorphosis... Do you know it?? If not, you must run, not walk, to iTunes or Amazon.

PearBaby - I'm in the vanguard with you on the "fighting it" part. The recession of ye auld hairline is the sole giveaway of my "mature" status. Lord knows my behavior doesn't reflect it!

ANGEL

Spend all your time waitin''
For that second chance;
The break that would make it okay.
There''s always some reason
To feel not good enough
And it''s hard at the end of the day.

I need some distraction.
Oh, beautiful release.
Memories seep through my veins
That may be empty,
Oh, and weightless and maybe
I''ll find some peace tonight.

I''m in the arms of the angel.
Fly away from here.
From this dark, cold hotel room
And the endless nights that you fear.
You were born from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie.
You''re in the arms of the angel.
May you find some comfort here.

So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
There''s vultures and thieves at your back.
The storm keeps on twistin''.
Keep on buildin'' the life
That you make up for all that you lack.

Don''t make no difference.
Escape one last time.
It''s easier to believe
Then this sweet madness.
Oh, this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees.

In the arms of the angel.
Fly away from here.
From this dark, cold hotel room
And the endless nights that you fear.
You were born from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie.
You''re in the arms of the angel.
May you find some comfort here.

You''re in the arms of the angel.
May you find some comfort here.

I''ll Be There For You

I guess this time you''re really leaving
I heard your suitcase say goodbye
Well as my broken heart lies bleeding
You say true love, it?s suicide

You say you''ve cried a thousand rivers
And now you''re swimming for the shore
You left me drowning in my tears
And you won''t save me anymore

I pray to God you''ll give me one more chance, girl

I''ll be there for you
These five words I swear to you
When you breathe I want to be the air for you
I''ll be there for you
I''d live and I''d die for you
Steal the sun from the sky for you
Words can''t say what a love can do
I''ll be there for you

I know you know we''re had some good times
Now they have their own hiding place
I can?t promise you tomorrow
But I can''t buy back yesterday

And Baby you know my hands are dirty
But I wanted to be your valentine
I''ll be the water when you get thirsty, baby
When you get drunk, I''ll be the wine

I''ll be there for you
These five words I swear to you
When you breathe I want to be the air for you
I''ll be there for you
I''d live and I''d die for you
Steal the sun from the sky for you
Words can''t say what a love can do
I''ll be there for you

Solo

And I wasn''t there when you were happy
I wasn''t there when you were down
I didn''t mean to miss your birthday, baby
I wish I''d seen you blow those candles out

I''ll be there for you
These five words I swear to you
When you breathe I want to be the air for you
I''ll be there for you
I''d live and I''d die for you
Steal the sun from the sky for you
Words can''t say what a love can do
I''ll be there for you

Life''s been good
Life''s been bad
Now I know
What I had
Has taken it''s toll on me
Yes we give
And we take
What we get
Is what we make
Believe that dreams come true
Life is crazy
We''re not fools, no, no
The price is high
When you keep the score
Take your souls
And your goals
To the top
Together we stand
We won''t take no more
Cause we''re winners
And winners take all
Together we stand
We won''t take no more
Cause we''re winners
And winners take all
We have loved
Burned by fate
But for once
Set the record straight
Time does heal all wounds
You have laughed
We have cried
Paid our dues
Yes we''re turned the tide
Mistakes are far and few
We need no guidance
Our aim is true
Down the road
There were many tolls
But we know
Cause we''ve grown
What we need
Together we stand
We won''t take no more
Cause we''re winners
And winners take all
Together we stand
We won''t take no more
Cause we''re winners
And winners take all
The price is high
When you keep the score
Take your souls
And your goals
To the top
Together we stand
We won''t take no more
Cause we''re winners
And winners take all
Together we stand
We won''t take no more
Cause we''re winners
And winners take all

My theme song :}

BAD COMPANY - "Bad Company"

Company Always on the run
Destiny is the rising sun
Oh I was born 6-gun in my hand
Behind a gun I''ll make my final stand
That''s why they call me Bad company
And I can''t deny
Bad company
Till the day I die
Till the day I die
Till the day I die Rebel souls
Deserters we are called
Chose a gun and threw away the sun
Now these towns
They all know our name 6-gun sound is our claim to fame
I can hear them say Bad company
And I won''t deny
Bad Bad company
Till the day I die
Till the day I die
SOLO Bad
Bad company
I can''t deny
Bad company
Till the day I die
And I say it''s
Bad company Oh Yeah---Yeah
Bad company
Till the day I die Oh Yeah Tell me that you are not a thief
Oh But I am
Bad Company
It''s the way I play
Dirty for dirty
Oh Somebody Double-crossed me
Double-cross
Double-cross
Yeah
We''re Bad company
Kill in cold blood

Ted Nugent: Spirit Of The Wild lyrics: Fred Bear

There I was back in the wild again.
I felt right at home, where I be-long.
I had the feeling, coming over me again.
Just like it happened so many times be-fore. eh.
The Spirit of the Woods is like an old good friend.
Makes me feel warm and good in-side.
I knew his name and it was good to see him again.
Cause in the wind he''s still a-live.
Oh Fred Bear
Walk with me down the trails again.
Take me back, back where I be-long.
Fred Bear
I''m glad to have you at my side my friend
and I''ll join you in the big hunt before too long
before too long.
It was kinda dark, another misty dusk
it came from a tangle down be-low.
I tried to re-mem-ber everything you taught me so well.
I had to de-cide which way to go.
Was I a-lone or in a hunter''s dream.
Cause the moment of truth was here and now.
I felt his touch I felt his guiding hand.
The buck was mine forever more!!
(chorus repeats twice)

i was born in the 70s but I should have been a teen in the 70s because all these songs you have mentioned are my favorites! I love love 70s love songs...REO, Chicago, Bread, Ambrosia, etc.

Anyway, for every crush/love I had growin up I had a song, eventually broke my heart and the song made me cry, now they bring back memories and make me smile...what a goofy eclectic mix of songs!!!

"Anything for you" gloria estefan
"lost in your eyes" debbie gibson (how embarrassing)
"masterpiece" atlantic starr
"i''ll be your everything" tommy page
"what might have been" little texas
"i can''t tell you why" eagles
"one headlight" the wallflowers (dont ask)
"me and mrs jones" billy paul

my biggest love/heartbreak relationship:
"the dance" garth brooks
"emotion" samantha sang
"not a day goes by" lonestar
"i miss you" klymaxx
"there you''ll be" faith hill

I would do anything, anything a man can do
You''re my strength and weakness
I give it all for you
I would climb any mountain
How can I make you see?
Though the stars may fall, it will always be you and me

The light in your eyes is all the hope I need
There''s so much you can give
Your smile is my reason to live

Just take my hand, we''ll make a stand
I know that we can make it
(Hey) It''s you and me. The world will see
I know that we can make it, you and me

I see you, full of sadness
Wondering ''bout this world we''ve made
There''s a space between us all
Love has seen some better days

Oh we can make it
Oh we can make it
The love in your eyes is all I need to know
I''m never letting go
I''m here for you heart and soul

Just take my hand, we''ll make a stand
I know that we can make it
(Hey) It''s you and me, the world will see
I know that we can make it
I know that we can make it (Hey, yeah)

Just take my hand, we''ll make a stand
I know that we can make it
(Hey) It''s you and me. The world will see
I know that we can make it
I know that we can make it
You and me

There''s a lady who''s sure
All that glitters is gold
And she''s buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she''s buying a stairway to heaven.

There''s a sign on the wall
But she wants to be sure
''Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook
There''s a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.

There''s a feeling I get
When I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who standing looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And it''s whispered that soon
If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.
If there''s a bustle in your hedgerow
Don''t be alarmed now,
It''s just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
There''s still time to change the road you''re on.
And it makes me wonder.

Your head is humming and it won''t go
In case you don''t know,
The piper''s calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow,
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How ev''rything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she''s buying a stairway to heaven.

My Moms favorite song:
This Is My Father''s World

1. This is my Father''s world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father''s world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
his hand the wonders wrought.

2. This is my Father''s world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker''s praise.
This is my Father''s world:
he shines in all that''s fair;
in the rustling grass I hear him pass;
he speaks to me everywhere.

3. This is my Father''s world.
O let me ne''er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father''s world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!

1. Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
was blind, but now I see.

2. ''Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved;
how precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed.

3. Through many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come;
''tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.

4. The Lord has promised good to me,
his word my hope secures;
he will my shield and portion be,
as long as life endures.

5. Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
a life of joy and peace.

6. When we''ve been there ten thousand years,
bright shining as the sun,
we''ve no less days to sing God''s praise
than when we first begun.

My Hope Is Built
1. My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus'' blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus'' name.
Refrain:
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

2. When Darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil.
(Refrain)

3. His oath, his covenant, his blood
supports me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
he then is all my hope and stay.
(Refrain)

4. When he shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in him be found!
Dressed in his righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before the throne!
(Refrain)

Dancingfire and Didimond, we must be the same age. You both listed ones I remember vividly from my hs/college years. Commodores, Eagles, Peaches & Herb, Chicago, Rod Stewart, Ashford and Simpson, etc. 70''s music was just fun. Did you see Paul McCartney tonight at the Super Bowl? I knew the words to every song. Beatles revisited. I loved Wings too. I loved Hotel California, just because it was fun. Of course there was all the disco music by Donna Summer among others. The biggest laugh was for McArthur Park. What a stupid song, yet we knew the words and danced to it.

I was just telling my mom yesterday about my new wonder cream. (LOreal Visible Results) I let my hair grow out for two months between touch ups and I''ll never do that again. When I was standing there pulling out the white ones I realized I was way overdue for color. I''m turning 35 in two months, which according to my mom is NOT old, but I''m here wondering when I got here. Still feel 18, in my head anyway. It helps that no one can believe my age. I get told everything from 18 to 25 now. I eat that up.
