Hi All

I got hold of a jewellers cloth a day or two ago. It has shone up my white gold and diamond cygnet ring beautifully. I presume, however, that the cloth contains abbrasive that will polish away metal over time.

Can anyone please confirm this?

Hi. I have a couple of these cloths and was told NOT to use them on stones, just to shine silver and gold (or platinum).

I didn't think they had abbrasives, just some sort of chemical treatment....?

Sorry-not a definitive answer just my experience.

I have a bunch of 'Sunshine' cloths (brand name) I got many years ago (10 or more) to polish metals in my settings. You use them on the metal parts of jewelry pieces only. They are impregnated with jewelers' rouge, which is what jewelers use to polish precious metals.
