I DID IT! I finished the Wall Street Journal crossword puzzle - and with a minimum of googling! (I needed help with a screenwriter and country singer or two - and found out that irascible didn't mean what I thought it meant! )

My brother the king of internet deals and freebies somehow set my father up with a free WSJ subscription. My father could care less about the paper - he'd rather peruse his favorite on-line news sources - so the papers go straight to recycling unless I'm visiting. Not long ago I discovered that the WSJ publishes a nice, challenging word puzzle of some sort every Friday so I asked my father to save each Friday's paper for me. I'm usually able to make pretty good headway on the puzzle, but this is the first time I've actually finished the whole thing!

So a friend of mine proposed to his GF and I get to help with ring! Well hopefully He told me he was engaged and I told him about PS and he said I could help him shop! I'm a bit excited now. I've told him to come and create an account, or to have him give me all his specs and I'll do the leg work (with awesome PSers help!)

In my experience, it's easiest if you give ask them what they're looking for and then really strongly recommend a single vendor they can get it from. Most people don't want to do all the research and depending on how close you are may not be comfortable with you knowing the budget. And then email them specific suggestions from that vendor. When you bring extra stuff into it, they get confused, run away, and buy a ring from a mall store.

Haha I post a lot more in show me the bling. I usually just post on threads for pieces that i absolutely adore, but during the giveaway i share the love and comment on anything I think looks pretty.

I've never won so that might not be a great strategy.

I love how the 649 commercials used to show older couples enjoying things like sailing. I think I know a few people who have bought into the idea that lottery is a valid retirement plan.
