Rant of the day:

I hate it when people driving gas vehicles gas up in front of the only diesel pump and then sit there. Guy took forever to pump a very specific amount of gas, then go to the bathroom, then bought a sandwich at Subway, then went into a coffee shop, then played with his phone for a while. I was sitting in my car indicating the entire time. Yes there are other pumps, but none are diesel!

Happens almost every time I'm in the US. Guessing diesel cars aren't as much of a thing here.

My stomach's in knots. I was offered a job earlier in the week (which I have to either accept or decline early next week), I have 2 other interviews scheduled, and there's a strong possibility I'll end up with another offer. It's not a bad situation to be in but I'm a nervous wreck.

Isn't it marvelous?

Do you find yourself reaching up to the bridge of your nose to adjust your mom existent glasses?
I catch myself doing it at least once a day!

I still do, or try and look over the top of my "glasses". My script was so strong, I couldn't always see well up close.

I find myself adjusting the most when my eyes are dry. My vision gets a bit off by my standards andi think its because the lens are either dirty or too far down. Lol.
Manderz - how long did your ophthalmologist have you on drops?
Mine prescribed me 3 months worth of preservative free tears and anti inflammatory drops. Told me to use the anti drops 4 times a day, and I'm reading that using these drops can make your intra ocular pressure go up....so I've been only using it twice aday.

Sorry, I got busy and haven't been on much lately  . I did antibiotic drops 4x daily for 2 weeks after, a steroid for 3 weeks after, 4x a day, and then tapered one drop per week to none, and the preservative free drops 4x a day while using the others, and then as needed. I use them occasionally still, but the further I get from surgery, the less I need them. It's been a couple weeks at least since I've used anything.

I am inebriated, a nice word for drunk on my a$$. Had lunch with my 95 yr old lady friend and listened for 3 hours to her tales of sex with her 98 yr old lover. She has 2, TWO 98 yr old lovers. Who don't need viagra. Bless her soul. But 3 hrs on the subject is a bit much for my tender 59 yr old yrs so I sipped my way through 3 Manhattans. She calls me a youngster. I call her a tramp. Love her to pieces. Need a nap.

Awwww Thanks Enerchi. I don't remember being sober at the GTG  Callicake, you can certainly join us for lunch. Be careful what you wish for.

Ms C is a proper Southern lady. Her cocktail of choice is Grey Goose straight up. The quicker she sips, the louder she gets. So today I had a lesson on the difference between *uckers and lovers during which she sipped very fast and got kinda loud. We were at her country club and I noticed a few people trying not to snort their own drinks through their noses as her southern lilt wafted through the dining room.

I wish I had her libido. Mine said it was going for a short walk a few years ago and never came home. I've searched and searched but can't find it

I'm wondering if having four kids is going to cause me to have long term brain damage? Ugh I need a stiff drink or three :wall:

I'd vote for absolutely YES it will.

If having one step-kid is enough to leave me pounding my head on a desk, I can't imagine FOUR :errrr:

Okay.... I suspect a lot of the head pounding is due to her mother.

An example:

Today is her day to pick "A" up and visit for a few hours (they do this once per week). She is supposed to be here at 10am. At 10:15, she called and said she had gone back to bed so was just now getting up. So I don't expect her to be here until almost 11.
This is normal. She is ALWAYS 20+ minutes late.
And when she does show up, she sits and talks to me like we are friends in MY living room for an hour or more.
Every week. (plus phone calls to chat with me -- refusing to talk to "A" -- in between!)

I tried having an appointment to get to that I had to leave right at 10 to get to but that didn't work. She'd just block me in the driveway so I couldn't get the car out.

I've tried standing the whole time and keeping her next to the door. No better.

She's even taking to using our bathroom and getting glasses of water :-o

Okay....
Back to trying to chill before she shows up.

I did it!!!!!

I just said NO :appl: :appl: :appl:

"A" is visiting with her mother today. Her mother showed up an hour late (again) and proceeded to sit down in MY living room and chat like we're great friends (for another HOUR). She has tomorrow off of work and wondered if "A" could spend the day with her. I said it was fine if "A" hadn't made plans already with her friends but that I would drop "A" off at Starbucks and her mother could pick her up from there. I have stuff to do and can't promise to be here for her to pick "A" up (especially since she can't show up on time).

"A" had no problem with that solution. (she has a debit card, money of her own, likes Starbucks, and enjoys sitting and sipping at the store that is just a mile away). Her mother melted down. Couldn't possibly have "A" sitting alone in a Starbucks. (she'll be 15 in a few weeks and it is a good area -- I watch 10-12 year olds routinely sitting there without parents)

Her mother wanted me to just leave "A" sitting in our house and she could just pick her up and have "A" lock the door. So I said NO! I am NOT comfortable with you being in MY house while I'm not here.
(she has in past offered to take a copy of "A"s house key so that she can come into our house if "A" forgets something and we're out)

This is the first time in TWO YEARS that I have said NO to anything with her.

Starting next week, I'll drop "A" off at the Starbucks and her mom will pick her up from there. No more free visiting time in our house.

Good for you!! Your post is giving me the courage to say no to DH regarding his parents visiting this weekend. You see, my inlaws visit every 3-4 weeks and when they stay with us, they sleep in my oldest son's room (and shares my other son's room). They typically stay from Thurs-Mon and I get stuck hosting/entertaining. Whereas, SIL is just 5 miles away with an extra room. In the last couple months, they visited us 3 times and stayed with us. I just need a break! Thanks for posting your victory! :appl:

I have $300 of "found" money (got an unexpected present from the parents- man, that never gets old. I'm 37 and sometimes they still send me money!). Anyway, I cannot decide what to do with it. I would love some idea. I could get some small piece of jewelry for myself. Or I could get something DH and I could both enjoy. I seriously have no idea what to do with it! Thoughts?

I just decided to extend a temp consulting gig (I work freelance) for six months so I can buy a 2ct OEC with the spare change from the extra work ... Most people I know in RL would think I'm crazy... :o :o :o

This sounds completely reasonable to me!

I freelance a bit and I have done similar!

Unexpected windfalls are always welcome :appl: :appl: For $300, maybe you and your DH can go do something special together, like a nice meal, or a day out somewhere? $300 is not a super-large budget in terms of bling (especially diamonds) so if it were me I would put it towards creating some special memories of time spent together. :) :)

Yay for unexpected $$$. I second mochiko's vote of a special and romantic dinner somewhere nice. I don't know where you live but hopefully $300 can purchase both of you a lovely and romantic dinner somewhere with a nice view? Enjoy!

We live in Atlanta, which is restaurant heavy, but it's really not our style to spend that much on one dinner. We're more of a $100-150 dinner people- though that would still leave me some play money. I was thinking of getting a simple necklace but I have so many different ones already of the costume variety that I love to jazz up outfits with, I think a simple one would languish. I thought bracelet (I love a bracelet) but my MIL just bought me a silver bracelet from Tiffany last month and I don't need another right now.

I've had this nagging feeling that there's "something" I've been wanting for a couple days. COULD NOT figure out what it was. At about 1am last night it finally dawned on me. I've been wanting a new food processor! I really want the Kitchen Aid one. I think. And $300 is about the right price range for a good one. Woot! So I'm going to go find one today. That's something DH and I will both use.

Vent: there is a leak in my bedroom. We had the roof replaced 3 weeks ago as a preventative measure since some shingles were starting to crack. We did our research and went with a well regarded company that was used by 8 other homeowners in our neighborhood. They did a horrible job, didn't nail some of the shingles down properly and they are already curling. They said they'd be back early this week to fix it, but the owner has admitted to "staffing issues" this season. Ugh.

Left them a voicemail so ball is in their court.

Will be informing gossipy neighbor. There are still 74 houses in our association who will be replacing their roofs within the next year.

LOVE my food processor!

We have a Cuisinart multi-bowl that is AMAZING. Big bowl (10 cups?) & little bowl (3 cups?) plus lots of blades (big, little, bread dough, slicing (adjustable thickness), shredding) and storage box.
I love that I can use the little bowl to do fresh herbs then take it out and use the big one for soup or bread dough.

My only complaint about it is that the little bowl only works nestled in the big bowl and sometimes I get a dribble from the little one into the big one (simple to wipe out...).

I've used it for soups, bread dough (including thick egg breads), and pretty much everything else. (The bread blade is SOOOOOO worth it!!!!)

Hope you find one you love too!
