I figured this is more Hangout-y than ATW so I''m posting it here! There''s a WWD article and slideshow of sketches for Michelle Obama''s gown for the inaugural ball. There are sketches by Caroline Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfield, etc.! And a few cute ones for Sasha and Malia, too! I love fashion sketches...they''re so amazing! I''m going to try to post a few of my faves in here, but here are the links if anyone is interested!

Wow cool post! I enjoyed looking through those. I particularly love Monique Lhuillier''s design! Its interesting how much Betsey Johnson''s submission portrays her funky personality.

Oscar de la Renta...how amazing is this one?! I love the dresses but I think I love the sketches of them even more!

I know, Skippy! There are so many good ones! I think I would love to see her in purple or red, but I do love the Marc Jacobs mustardy gold dress.

The article says that several designers declined to do sketches, possibly because they really are in the running. I can''t wait to see what/who she wears! She doesn''t usually wear big name designers so it will be interesting to see who she chooses! I''ve read a couple of articles that say she should/might wear a dress by Chicago designer Maria Pinto. (Michelle wears her a lot and always looks great in her dresses.)

What fun! A lot of beautiful gowns and day dresses too. I think the Isaac Mizrahi gown is my favorite too -- but I suspect it would be put down as being too similar to something Jackie would have worn. Michelle Obama is blessed with a striking physique and a bold but tasteful sense of style. We would-be fashionistas are in for a treat!

I definitely think this one says "her" the most, and yes, purple is totally one of her colors. This one I''m posting would be a close second, though I''m not sure I would want it in white. I also LOVE the red Lhuiller!

I have to say, some of the "models" look grotesque, and one sketch looks like aliens.

And why are some white? Skin color has so much to do with what looks good and what doesn''t, they should be giving the clearest picture they can, imho.

Ooh...those are so much fun. I like Isaac Mizrahi, DVF, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta, Zac Posen, Peter Som, Kai Milla, Reem Acra (I want this dress - the red and black one, OMG so gorgeous!). How fun would it be to get to choose one (or more!) of those.

Wow, I like so many of these! Tracy Reese is great, wish I could afford her stuff. I think purple is defiitely Michelle's color, but the yellow Marc Jacobs looks good too. I'm also into the Nicole Miller dress.
