typo: that should be MRSA not MSRA....

Save money at the risk of spreading a super-bug into the general population.

while doing other dumb things to look like they are trying too fix it:

Its all ready bad enough that it kills millions of people in hospitals each year.

All the while that's going on funding is being stripped from anti-biotic research into BS global warming research.

and yea I'm rather bitter about it for good reason....

Startling, to say the least. Send people home with this bug? Are they insane?

A friend of mine lost her father to this last year and it was totally preventable. Just heartbreaking.

SOunds like you have experience of this too, Strmrdr. I hope you are ok?

tough topic, partially because there's MRSA and then then there's MRSA. some folks are just colonized with it and it's not posing a threat, others have a potentially deadly infection so it's really difficult to generalize. sending some home may not be as dumb as it may sound once you know more details, ie: they are no longer contagious, are medically stable, and are on therapy that can be finished at home. a lot of things can be done at home these days, including iv antibiotics. i do agree that we need more research dollars, not less though, and we need to be a lot judicious about our use of antibiotics. you shouldn't take antibiotics every time you cough or sneeze.

My mom died of it.
She might not have made it anyway but when it kicked in there wasn''t a chance.
I caught a bronkitis bug that wasn''t mrsa but was resistant too 3 antibiotics from the nursing home she was at that left one lung badly damaged.
My whole family got it but because I had a cold at the time it was going around it took hold worse but they kicked it fairly quickly.
Took over 6 months too mostly recover from it except for some scar tissue blocking the bottom of one lung.
