Absolutely
Currently my bunny is the only pet on my side of the family, so he's getting a bunch of loot for Christmas MIL is coming for Christmas and not bringing her dog, but I think I might buy the doggy something anyway.ETA: Our dogs when I was growing up had stockings full of treats and it was so cute to watch them stand on tippy toe to try to reach them We always put the stockings up on top of the mantle every night where we knew they couldn't get to them. I assume my parents will pull out a stocking for Otto's first Christmas this year!

We didn''t think of it in time, but I found a fabric that has bug eyed chickens on it, so I''m going to con a coworker into making Chicken her own stocking for next year out of that fabric and put her name on it.
We got her a light brown/orange/cream argyle sweater and a pink hooded vest and a t shirt. I''m looking at some boots for her too, for when we walk..she''s so little, I worry about her feet freezing on the ice/snow. |

Kind of
I got some new scratching posts a couple weeks ago that were kind of expensive. I am saying I am gave them their Christmas presents early. However, got them because I moved and threw away their favorite scratching post and I wanted to get them new ones they would like before my new furniture is delivered. It is really a small investment to save my furniture. But they are working so far. My cats love them and are no longer attacking my chair they had been using as kittens! |

sounds good everyone, LOVE the stocking idea.
choro72- Im not sure if its "normal" and I can only speak for myself when I say that I do not have kids (nor want them), but I still get enjoyment out of seeing someone I love open a gift. Why should I get deprived of that pleasure just because its only me, dh and our dogs? |

Yup! Our lovebird gets a new toy, because she destroys everything we give her... and the dogs get tins of sardines, yummy!
I was at mum and dad''s the other day where we are having Christmas lunch this year, and there''s a box under the tree addressed to my dogs Ebony and Bubbles, from mum''s cat Pippin

I guess I should add that I am a year-round treat and toy buyer. We always keep 2+ types of treats in the house. The doggies get tons of treats every day (how they manage to keep their svelt figures I''ll never know), and toys whenever new ones are needed (aka all the old ones have been de-stuffed and ripped apart). |

Of couse!!! They are often the best gifts in the house (the XHH and I tend to give each other "joke presents" since we're both really bad about buying whatever we want during the year so there's nothing good left to get come x-mas). And watching them unwrap their presents (yes, Crazy Dee even wraps their gifts...
) is the funniest thing ever!!! Oscar is very tentative, but The Demon--oh man! When he knows there's something in a package that he wants, he is just in a frenzy. Paper and bows and ribbon EVERYWHERE!

I''ve been bad and didn’t get Charlie a stocking yet but I already gave him his gift this year. He got a brand new bed that he’s been sleeping on for a week now. The boy loves it and rolls around in it!! It’s so cute! Somehow I’m excited but sad at the same time this year when I went stocking shopping couple days ago (didn’t buy anything). Since my cat’s death last month it’s hard pulling out her stocking and realizing she is gone. Before we got Charlie my cat got everything. She had a special kitty stocking and would get a gift too. We would stuff her stocking full of food and treats since she’s too smart for toys. Back when we used to give her toys she’ll give us a look that is like “do you think I’m stupid enough to fall for this fake mouse?”!! hahahaha

Definitely. When my dog was still with us we used to get him toys every year and I swear he enjoyed unwrapping his gifts more than any person I know. He always liked to help us unwrap ours as well but was especially excited when we allowed him to chew on the gifts (the ones that were his obviously). He was wonderful though, he never tried to open gifts that were under the tree, he knew he had to wait until christmas when we opened all of them.
We even exchanged dog gifts on my dad''s side of the family when every family had a dog. I usually just get the cat a bag of treats... she doesn''t play with anything I buy for her, she prefers corks, ping pong balls, and anything else I didn''t spend money on. |

We did this year! Poor boys (cate) get neglected usually, so this year they''re getting a new scratchy thing and a ball to chase around.
My parents'' dogs get a whole stocking full of treats and a new stuffy toy to destroy within 2 minutes of getting it. Ah, St Bernards... They know as soon as the stockings go up what''s coming too. So cute!
