I'm curious...do you believe in ghosts, spirits, demons?? And if so do you have an experience to share?

No, because the idea of them scares the crap out of me, so I'd rather just believe they don't exist.

Yeah, I grew up in a house with ghosts. On an earlier thread, there were some real shiver-y stories from some PSers. Made me jealous!

Nope.

There are experiences we don't know enough about to evaluate.
There are experiences which are proved to have mundane explanations.
There are experiences which have possible mundane explanations, although we can't prove anything one way or the other.

And then there are experiences where we have a lot of information, and can't find any possible mundane explanations. Except that there aren't any. Not one in the history of humankind. You'd think if there are ghosts around one or two of them would have sent us messages that couldn't possibly have been faked by now. I like to call myself open-minded. But the score is billions to zero against. It isn't even a game anymore.

I just came upon that thread!! :errrr: Spooky! I agree, though there may not be 'evidence' that they exist, but it's hard to argue when so many have had incidents that can't be explained. I'm okay that science isn't able to confirm or deny....that doesn't dismiss the many experiences of others.

edit: grammar

I absolutely positively do, had some experiences myself. I currently have a good friend who is going through a serious problem in her home right now (and she's of a skeptical nature, but this problem has her and hubby believing without a doubt!) It's so bad that they're moving out of their dream home after a specialist (spiritual adviser/cleanser) tried to help them but was unable to fix the problem. They were only in the house for a few months but have to get out (they've already moved out and everything is greatly improved for them).

OMG that is so scary. I am sorry about their situation. So they think that the ghosts are specific to that house and not haunting them for any reason I guess?
Good luck to them and I hope it all works out.

As for if I believe in ghosts I am not sure. Like amc I would rather believe they don't exist cause they scare the crap out of me too and Erica's example above is exactly why! But I have a *feeling* that they do exist and again Erica's example above is exactly why! :errrr:

Just asked my dh and he believes in ghosts but no specific examples.

I'll go whichever way appeases them enough to leave me alone - if believing in them is all it will take for them not to scare me to death in order to make me a believer, then I believe, I believe! :o

No. I was brought up to believe that ghosts/people that "talk" to the dead/Ouija boards etc, were tools used by Satan to turn you away from God. Now that I don't know where I am on the religious spectrum, I just think it's fake. My brother is HUUUUUUGE into ghosts and hauntings etc and is convinced that all of the shows are 100% true.

Having said that, those things scare the living daylights out of me, so I don't read/watch ghostie stuff b/c I'll never sleep again.

However, I have had some things happen that I have NO answers for, no rhyme or reason. My husband has too, even tho he is also a skeptic. I think almost everyone in our group of friends from back in the day did, at this house.

The building we used to be in at work had a least one ghost. Waaaaay too many people who worked on the fourth floor had encounters. It never scared me; I always felt it was keeping watch over me.

I believe there are forces at work that cannot be explained, tested or proven.

At times, when I walk into an area, I can feel "something" that is not right or at rest, like the room where they house the mummies in the British Museum, or the older parts of the City of London, or cemeteries.

DK :))

Never believed in any of that until my DH's grandmother died last year. A few weeks after she died we took our kids to a local kids museum which has a rather steep staircase. At the time our daughter had just started to walk. I got distracted for 2 seconds and she ended up right at the top of the staircase leaning over. I swear an older woman in a red sweater in my peripheral vision told me to look out. I immediately looked out and scooped up my DD. She was 2 seconds from going down the staircase. As soon as my hands were on her I wanted to thank the woman and burst into tears. There was no one within 30 feet of me. But I was 100% sure that an older women with longish silver hair and a red sweater (DH's gram was famous for always wearing red sweaters) was there. The whole thing really freaked me out and I spent of the afternoon in the museum looking for someone that might fit the description to make sure I wasn’t' going crazy.

I have so much to say on this topic that I'd like to just say it all with the group most interested in hearing my stories at a future GTG! I've always sensed something from young school age on, kinda ignored it, then adult ability turned more into psychometry. i later went on to be a radio producer for a pychic astrology show, waaay before the wave of shows now but after In Search Of...if you're old enough to remember Leonard Nimoy's 2nd job

I've had different experiences, heard a lot from many, and recently took mediumship classes with my hubby. Guess who is
intuitively very gifted?? We had an energy audit done and there is a clear photo of an orb in our attic. Not dust, camera trick, etc. We assume it is friendly because nothing else is happening up there. On the old radio show my boss interviewed the Warrens, of recent movie The Conjuring fame. They were sweet people and the first scene in the movie with the doll is what took up the most time talking about...yeesh. Ouija is a big No No, never use one as it opens up a line of communication you may have difficulty closing.

If a ghost story has a happy ending I'm good with it. :)

I wish I could say no, but due to some strange happenings in a house after the death of a loved one, well let's just say I now believe. I've never been so scared in my life and there is no logical explanation. I've got a security system, recordings, 2 police officers, with 60 years experience between them, say the had never seen anything like it and physical evidence. It was the first time that I was in fear for my family's safety and It's so scary that we don't even talk about it, which is fine with me. I have no need to try to make logic of what was completely illogical. Some things are better left unknown than disturbed IYKWIM.

Yes. Two of my best friends are married to them. Their husbands are never home--they are there in spirit only...

Intellectually, no.

But emotionally and imaginatively, the idea of ghosts and imagining ghosts scares the bejeezus out of me! I had nightmares for YEARS from the Sixth Sense and I can't walk from the door to my bed in the dark without running a little at the end to keep away from the things that go bump in the night! I have a very active imagination.

That!

I can't rationalise ghosts, not really, but I do believe in Gods. Benevolent entities to which that title can be appropriately assigned... So I guess if I believe in the good, I must believe in the bad too.

Which brings up the question are all ghosts bad? If they do exist I say there are good ghosts just as sure there are bad ones...if they do exist that is. ::)

Like SB's! I didn't quite mean it that way - that all ghosts must be bad - I was thinking more along the lines of evil divinities... For whatever reason ghosts and divinities are very distinct concepts in my mind...

I don't believe in ghosts. I believe once you are dead you can't come back. I do believe there are a angels and demons though.

Hmmmm this is a difficult one for me. I spent a large number of years including when I was young getting messages from dead people. Sometimes they talk to me very rarely I see them. I have a really skeptical type personality as well so it was hard to reconcile why I am able to get messages and other people do not. Now I just say to my husband x or y and he just believes me - there have been too many examples where I have been correct or just known things for him to dispute and my mother tells people if they ask a big long list of things that happened when I was a kid where I predicted things that happened or got messages about things that no-one could possibly know.

My son also mentioned seeing a great aunt two days after she died when he was about 2 or 3 as well, he described her in detail but mistook her for my his great grandmother, who is still alive (it was her sister who died and they look fairly similar) so he kept telling me his great grandmother visited him & it made him sad - they live 12 hours from here and had not visited at the time, and we didn't go to the great aunt's funeral.... the odd thing was I sensed her as well, (it was like she was going around all the family members checking on them) the same day he did but during a different time of day.

I wonder if he will get messages as well, or lose the ability as he ages.

Absolutely! I think I even contributed to the other thread linked. I watch paranormal shows on TV all the time (especially A Haunting). DH calls them my "ghost ****", in the same way he refers to PS as my "diamond ****". LOL

Can't wait Lil Misfit, I'll certainly try to attend! I can't get enough of them either. Interesting that John Zapfis on The Haunted Collector(DDH's fave) is the nephew of Ed Warren. I don't think I want to enter that lair of objects-creepy or innocent looking. My favorite of late is Kim Russo's show where she revisits a haunted site that frightened a celeb. She seems very on target most of the time. I don't know where her show is at the moment but a medium that I know and repect trained with Lisa Williams. It may have just been called The Lisa Willams show. Oh, and how can I leave out Amy Allan on The Dead Files? I do believe in ghosts, I do I do I do! But I don't want to see what she sees   :o :errrr:

What mediums have told me is you train with an eperienced person to develop your ability and learn the "rules" and techniques. Like calling your guides in to help you, and do paryers of protection.
