Canada mints its LAST penny

The video is not too exciting but what a historic event!
Ironically, that penny will probably be VERY valuable.

I hope America will soon follow Canada's lead.
Inflation has made the penny cost more than it's worth.

Anyway, would not mind in the least, just not quite sure I can wrap my head around a world without pennies! So $2.49 would become $2.50 and then tax would have to be rounded as well, right? I can't see the government ever allowing taxes to be rounded down...

But $2.47 would be rounded down, as would the tax.
It's a wash.

Yes, they need to go. Australia doesn't have them, and that coupled with the fact that all taxes are already calculated into published prices everywhere, makes life easy.

Doesn't make much of a difference to me, I use my debit card exclusively. People are actually buying pennies from the bank (50 rolls at a time says a reliable source) just to hoard. Not me. Maybe. Probably not...
