apart from diamonds, what else have you learnt!?

I think for me, the most interesting thing I enjoyed learning on this board is

A) saving tips (on basically everything )
B) lots and lots of recipees, whether they are fat free, vegetarian, or summer-ish.

I LOVE IT!

I actually think it''s reverse.. recipees and then the savings!
mmmm food! haha, most of the time, I wish I could just go live with one of you to eat your food! most of these recipees I''ve never heard of!! hah

I''ve learned to re-read my posts before I send them, and before getting all defensive and offended by people''s responses, to consider them carefully and a) extract any good advice, regardless of the tone in which it was meant, and b) give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to that tone. It''s really easy to misinterpret things as mean/hostile/negative on the internet, I find.

I''ve also learned to watch what I say, and how I say it. (Alas, I learned this the hard way! I was a forum newbie when I came on here.) It''s important to consider all the ways something could be taken, especially if you are a person (like me) who uses their hands and tone and facial expressions to convey most of the meaning behind words.

I learned a TON of stuff about DIYing wedding preparations, and wedding preparations in general: what''s involved, how much it costs, how long it takes to plan, etc. I''ve gotten lots of ideas on how to do everything from invitations to receptions to photo shoots, and I''m so grateful!

And lastly, I''ve gotten a ton of good advice on relationships, especially about my FMIL. There are a whole lot of wise ladies on this forum. Thank you all!

I learned that my fascination with diamonds is *not* abnormal, as so many of my friends make it seem.

I''ve learned that it''s much easier to stick with a diet and workout plan when there''s a group of women that''s doing the same thing as you. It''s much harder to cheat when you have to check in with an accounting of your progress, because major guilt kicks in.

I''ve learned that I can come onto this forum and ask any question under the sun, and there will *always* be someone (or several people) nice enough to chime in with advice or opinions, and present them in a nice way.

I have learned that being surounded by nice people helps me to be a nicer person as well! Not that I wasn''t nice to begin with LOL I use my hands and tone a lot as well, but I''ve posted in other forums on other topics and have been broken in so to speak... this is one of the nicest forums I''ve ever seen in the past 8 years!

The thing I love about this forum in particular is that for the most part, people are educated, interesting, and open to sharing personal experiences and opinions on just about everything. There is a great mix of cultures and backgrounds and I constantly find myself quoting something fun I''ve learned from PS people!
