After seeing that lost of things that we hate, I wanted a list of the little things we love. Just some small pleasures you enjoy, probably a little more than the next person.


A few of mine....

Peeling off plastic from electronics and new appliances
The feeling of those plastic holographic ridged pictures in the palm of my hand (rub it back and forth)
The sound of a golf ball rolling into the hole

Love this idea Niel.

I know this will sound crazy and gross to some people.
Sweat pouring from my face after a long hard run, when I am this close to puking.
Watching opening night of The latest Marvel comics movie, any one, with my son.
Watching my daughter practice her gymnastics.
A hard, crunchy, juicy, slightly tart Fuji Apple.
Finding the perfect cross body bag.
Newly done manicure and pedicure.
A freshly cleaned ering.

When the cats are snoring in unison.

A perfectly pink sunset.

The smell of laundry out of the dryer when I remembered to throw in a lavender satchel.

A cold Tavern Ale from Williamsburg while I listen to the chirping peeper frogs.

Just got my nails done today for the first time in 2 years and I'd forgotten how nice it is to have them all purty, so I definitely second that one.

Certain stretches-when I lay on my side, bend my top leg and pull the knee as far up along the bed as I can while pointing my other toe and stretching that down as far as I can..mmmm

Cat fur and cat purrs. Can't in general.

Laughing. I love the deep belly laughs that you can't control that actually end up hurting.

Coloring.

A 'Dark & Stormy' after a long day of fishing, followed closely by Heineken

The sound and feel of fresh strings on my rock/metal bass.

Cruising at 40mph across a flat calm bay with my wife in my boat. Did that yesterday with a beer in hand and life really doesn't get much better than that!!

Date night with the hubs at our favorite neighborhood Italian bistro. Like tonight.
My kitchen in the morning sunlight, and a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Happiness right there.
Lying in bed with DH and talking while he gives me a backrub. He's sweet that way.
Clean fresh sheets. Lightly scented from sachets.
Bars of French soap in my shower.

-Creating a stack of perfectly folded towels.
-Slipping into a cool bed made up with slightly scratchy pillowcases and sheets.
-Secretly sniffing my dog's paws, which smell like sugary cookie dough.

climbing into a steaming hot bathtub with a ice cold beverage in hand and a new book by your favorite author
coming home from work to the smell of something delicious cooking for supper in the oven or crock pot

- Driving my car

Just a few of life's pleasures that are free, except for the cost of maintaining my car - she is old, however, I had her since new in 2002, and am sentimental about her.

My kitties purring on or near me. It gives me a sense of well being and peace and happiness. I love that they just purr for no reason at all. And when all 4 of them are doing it at the same time WOW it is the best sound ever.

Being inside my house when it is thundering and lightning or snowing hard and snuggling with my kitties (the ones that don't scatter from the thunder that is) and dh on the couch just listening to the pouring rain.

My morning coffee. Strong and black and hot. It is worth getting out of bed to make. Then we drink it in bed. One of my favorite things to do.

Getting into bed at night when we just changed to clean sheets.

Getting cozy and reading a good book when you have nothing but hours of laziness ahead free to do exactly what you want to do with no cares at the moment.

Cycling with my dh by the shore. Feeling the wind in our faces and watching the world go by as we cycle by the ocean. It feels so free so wonderful. That is the one time when I am truly in the moment and feel at peace with everything.

Concur!

I don't like the heat, and installed air con in my house and car as a matter of priority. Love to be in an air-conditioned office, car and home when it is hot outside, and anything about 20 degC is hot for me!

Sitting on our patio very early in the morning with my furbaby. Especially when the pond is still, all the roses are blooming and I have a cup of coffee in my hand. So peaceful.

Sitting on a hot beach with a frozen drink.

Talking a walk with my husband

Looking our at our yard during a snow storm or gentle rain.

Being greeted by my furbaby whether I have been gone five minutes or three hours.

A freshly cleaned house

Sitting in my home with hot cocoa while it's snowing outside

Clean sheets

Getting something great delivered by UPS

Seeing my family

Air conditioning

Looking at my diamond

My house after it's been cleaned. By me or a service doesn't matter just love clean.

My job. I really like what I do.

Good strong black coffee--I could drink litres of Kona coffee when in Hawaii and do!
Speaking of Hawaii--the perfect pina colada and mai tai. I know exactly where
Making a delicious dinner for my family and them appreciating it. Doesn't get better than that
Feeling my strength when exercising--whether it is swimming or biking or a simple walk.
Singing in my car
Colored YSL mascara--a little (or a lot) of wow factor isn't a bad thing
Brunello Cucinelli--I don't think they made a bad garment--the aesthetic suit me perfectly and I love the way I feel when wearing their clothing
Platform shoes! The extra height is awesome!

- kissing
- hand-holding
- when he tells me he misses me
- when he tells me he loves me
- when he tells me I'm beautiful, especially when I'm feeling not so attractive
- to be in love
- snuggling up with and stroking my cat Pumpkin (Snowy doesn't like cuddles, pout!!)
- watching my cats in general and listening to them snore
- freshly bloomed flowers, of any kind
- food, lots of it, especially top quality sashimi and wagyu beef !!
- feeling exhausted and yet oh-so-good after a long hard workout

flowers make me happy--whether in the garden, or cut in the house. I always have flowers because I need them!

-My female kittie's round yellow eyes - especially when they look up and down at something kind of quick. So cute.
-Watching my cats play - especially when said female kittie does a ninja jump with arms open wide on top of male kittie. Hilarious.
-Just having my cats around.
-Movie and pizza night with DH.
-Intimate conversations with the very few people I trust.
-Texting with DH - makes me feel connected with him when we're not together.
-Dunking cookies in coffee - the more absorbent the better. Like vanilla wafers.
-Watching reality crime shows.

I thought of this thread when I woke up this morning and I had my two dogs cuddled up next to me. We just stayed in bed and snuggled. I love the smell of my dogs. They're clean but when they're sleeping and relaxed they have a slight scent to them that I find the most comforting thing in the world. It was two hours of pure joy this morning!

And like many - the joy of having a good cup of coffee. A good cup of dark roast makes everything better!

Niel - thanks for starting this thread. This has been a good reminder to savour the simple joys of life which I think we all tend to forget at times when daily life gets a bit overwhelming.

Yes.

Butter and just a little bit of strawberry jelly.

So good.

(I had that very thing last Thursday night at a diner. With tea though.)
