The following are generated using helium scans (very much preferred) and the final one using a sarin machine then importing the data into Gem Advisor and using the aset 30 black setting.
No one is releasing pictures yet taken using the ASET scope due to some technical issues so for now it will have to do.
The ones done using sarin data are less acurrate in the crown step facet area than the ones done with the helium data but both do a good job on the center pattern.

I am very much eager to get more information on the AGS S.E. cut ratings.
From what Iv seen so far ASET is the best tool out there for grading asscher patterns.

This one is better than average but considering how bad the average one is cut that dont take a lot.

Good patterns but not as bright as some.

This one is based on a sarin scan.
Id expect better looking crown facet and windmill areas with a helium scan of the diamond.
It sold before the helium scanner was available to scan it.
The file name says it all :}

The strmworthy ratings are:
1st strm3-4
2nd strm1
3rd strm0

strm0''s are very very hard to find.

Wow that IS kewl. Thanks storm.

Here is yours.
The sarin had a hard time with yours due to the tight spacing on the pavilian facets much like it does on the crown facets of the others.
I knew that from the sarin file when you bought it.
If I remember right we discused it at the time.
I know I did discuss it with Jon.
The pictures gave the true picture as would a real aset picture.
That is why we requested a bunch of pictures to double check and make sure.

definatly a strm0 :}

imho the only acceptable scanner to use at this point for conclusive results is the helium scanner when it comes to asschers.
Maybe the sarin machines could be tweaked for better results but at this point it doesnt appear to be.

generated IS or actual lightscope Garry?
Real IS images and the lightscope are very problematic with asschers the eyes/brain do a great job of aligning the pattern when looking at them in person but iv never seen a IS or lightscope image of an asscher that was perfectly aligned.

The third is interesting the lightscope shows a simular pattern to the generated IS but the actual picture and the b-scope images match the aset images.
Iv noticed that a few times with asschers.
Which is why I dont put to much weight in IS/lightscope images when it comes to asschers.

Why a high and properly patterned crown is important.
Notice the large bright flash of fire heading back in the viewers direction.

Right now an aset image, crown height, girdle information, and l& w & depth is all the info I need to evaluate an asschers cut.
Depth isnt that important to know other than its effect on spread.
Awesome asschers come with a wide range of depths from 63% to 75% which is a huge range all things considered.
In todays market most of the best will fall in the 66%-70% range.
But it varies from cutter to cutter.
Some do better on the shallow side and some better on the deep side.

Asscher ASET with tilt.
The file name is the angle.
The ones with aXX names are standard DC jewelery store lighting.

smallsteptest.gif

What I find interesting is the broadflash at between 8 degrees and 22 degrees.
When I saw it on the tilted aset the first time a light bulb went on in my head hey iv seen the real thing do that.
So I checked it out and yep a well cut asscher has a very large broadflash in that range.
The angle range and duration of the broadflash changes with the cut.
I call it an asscher broadside :} as in battleships.
