For my friend's daughter, my son's little buddy. She is just over 2 and has just finished her treatment for a brain tumor. This week she has her first post-chemo MRI. Please send all the dust and prayers you can muster for a clean scan!

Thank you every one. Pandora I do not know what type of tumor it was. Though I spend a fair amount of time with her mom, that is a detail I have not asked. All I know is the tumor was very large, required surgery to remove, and is not the "best" nor the "worst" type of cancer for a child to have. The baby has made it through intense chemo very very well. I just hope with all my heart that it worked (her mid-treatment MRI was clear). The last 6 months have just been a nightmare for my friend, and god I hope these results are good.

Oh wow! Much dust that all goes well. I hate hearing stories of sick kids, I work with dying adults bc I can't handle sick children. Hugs for hunter, too. It isn't easy for kids to grasp that their little friends aren't well.

The scan came back all clear!

Thank goodness.

The most critical period is 18 months post-chemo. She will have MRIs every 3 months for that period of time to watch for recurrance.

But for now, this is a huge milestone. I think we will celebrate with a playdate!

I know, I cannot even imagine the relief that her mom must be feeling right now. I mean, she is not out of the woods, but I know this was a huge hurdle that was looming. I think there are probably a good number of kids where the chemo just doesn't work and they have an early recurrance, and that cannot be a good sign I am so happy for this good result!
