TE means Thermal Enhancement.
They do at least say that it is natural, which honestly is better than I expected. Good For you!
Did they test for lattice diffusion?
Im also glad that you took the trouble to verify the stone. It is better to know. How else can one know if their sources are truly trustworthy?

Thank you for your reply.

I dont know if they tested it for Lattice Diffusion, but I'd suppose that GIA would state it at the Report?
I got no clue what they tested it for though - Sapphire Origin Report whatsoever, not the analytical one.

Not unless you've specifically asked them to test for it. I presume that GIA can test for this (many labs cannot) but it's worth checking. I do know that it's expensive but as it's already with them you may not have to pay much more.

I will ask them on this coming Monday, as far as I know GIA Carlsbad is closed for today.

No reply from GIA at all regarding the Diffusion part.
I asked them if "TE" means NO Diffusion - or/if how much extra it would cost to get the Diffusion part checked/graded.
= No answer in 72 hours.

Did you call them or email? Sounds like my query with AIGS on testing for diffusion. :knockout:

I hope they answer you. I get answers from AGL if I email, within 24 hours or earlier. You can also get very immediate answers if you call AGL, and thorough answers, and that's why I highly recommend them all the time (well one of the reasons).

I emailed them regarding the Sapphire.
I got answer on another email I sent them regarding another item.
I also emailed them today regarding 7 other items - but no answer on those either ...

So I hope they will answer me later this day or atleast tomorrow.

I contacted GIA and got answer from a specialist regarding "Diffusion" on Sapphires.
"TE" = NO DIFFUSION - if there's any Diffusion it's stated at the GIA Report.
Testing for Diffusion is included in the price and GIA always test gemstones for this treatment.

So at the end of the day you have a very beautiful, heat only, natural yellow sapphire of exceptional clarity. It may not be as valuable as you had hoped, but it is not fish tank gravel!
