Absolutely huge window! No way I would write a check for that amount for such a flat stone. :knockout:

Wow, just wow. I cannot believe that they can even get away with that! Basically, that is a small, ridiculously Bay Windowed stone that appears to have color zoning and at best medium saturation and yet, because they say its a Kashmir stone, they slap a $21,000/ct price tag on it. Will wonders never cease :nono:

I like it. Sure there is a window but it has a nice view.

Prime example of origin ----> huge price tag, and the stone has absolutely no other redeeming qualities whatsoever. I don't even care for the color that much. It could be Australian for all I knew looking at it. It doesn't even have the qualities that make the fine Kashmir stones so coveted.

I would be happy to pay two hundred eighty dollars for it.

It would need a setting that would make use of its window. Perhaps it could be incorporated into the sight for a rifle in such a way that when target and hairline line up between the two stripey zones...
Or it could be set as the lens in one of those tiny loupes that clip on to one side of one's spectacles. Then one would have it always in, but not obscuring one's sight. Both the view through it intensifying the sky, and the view around it would always be available, and the kalidescopic wreath would provide a multitude of five second vacations to soothe eye and mind strain.

Gubelin is just as good as AGL IMO, but wouldn't buy that stone for other reasons!

since chris smith signed the gubelin report ...

let's play a game! what do you think this stone would get on the prestige report?

i'll go first ... i've never seen a prestige report for a stone like this so i am totally guessing but here goes.

color 4-5
tone 70-80
clarity (hard to tell though that window certainly looks clear!)
cutting 6 (lower end of good -- i've never seen a fair ...)
tqir 4-5 very good to good (hey, kashmir has to count for something, no?)

i think i'm being pretty generous here ...

Gubelin is certainly good enough but the stone is another matter. With that bay door, why even bother buying that stone when a piece of blue glass will probably look prettier and cost 9999999% less?

. . . not to mention how badly zoned it is. I had thought that even color, face up, was important.

Thanks all.
Being sooooo shallow I should not have given it a second thought.

I just saw Kashmir and a price under a billion dollars and got all googooeyed.

Did you see the South Park episode "Cash for Gold?" That's what this thread reminds me of. ;))

This one resembles me a washtub in its classical form.

There are much nicer, better cut Kashmirs, at lower prices.

I loved that episode! I don't normally watch, but my son insisted I watch because it had Jewelry TV prominently portrayed   It was very funny and well done.

I think I busted a gasket watching that episode, it was so funny and true.

And a stone doesn't have to come from Kashmir to look "Kashmir" either. There are some drop dead gorgeous gems that rival Kashmir quality from other locations.

Great comparison.
