Tsavorite E-Ring Update

This ring was designed by Robert Pellicia and won the 2005 Spectrum Award from the American Gem Trade Association for Platinum Honors Bridal. I don''t know what that means, exactly, but I love this ring. My girlfriend really likes split shanks and pave so I think she''ll love it. The only question is whether to go with matching green stones around the center stone -- like he did with sapphires here -- or to just go with diamonds in that rectangular X thing. I''m inclined to go green -- she wants green, give her green -- but people are saying that might make it look less engagementy. I loved velourial''s ring -- it was the inspiration for this whole thing, and I think her ring looks very engagementy - and I think this ring does as well, although it is slightly more modern.

What do you all think of this plan? Should I try and match the green? Do you think 8.8 x 7.1 is big enough for an engagement ring? She has think fingers so I think it will be ok. Should I worry about buying a stone precut and committing to it? Does anyone know anything about Robert Pellicia? Can anyone tell me why Richard refers to stressors as alligators? I am awaiting answers and advice, people.

I like the idea of a green crown, but maybe in a different tone or hue.

That is definitely a BEAUTIFUL Tsavorite that you have there, and after the recut, I imagine the color will appear even richer. 

I have a Merelani Mint garnet that I am thinking of making into a ring and I have been planning on using a white metal to mount it in.  However, recently I saw someone wearing a mint green stone in a yellow gold bezel setting and I was blown away at how complimentary and rich the two colors look together. 

My point with this story is that perhaps you might consider some nice medium-light yellow diamonds to surround the Tsavorite with, it would definitely add some fire and capitalize on the color pairing that seems to bring out the colors in both!  Good luck and please keep up posted with pics of the recut stone and the beautiful ring that will result from it

That sounds pretty funny, but no idea what it means!  Hope someone comes up with a story


As far as I know, Pelliccia makes some over the top jewelry.  Online, you may find some listings price @all at J.R.Dunn Jeweler's website.   The ring looks nice, but somewhat fragile - looking at the delicate paved loops around the center stone, placed just right to take the brunt of wear, especially around a larger gem  

Goodness, thinking that the respective 3 cts green garnet is going to be sliced down almost hurts... although light colored stones look great concave cut. I agree with 'Scott0' that the color in the picture reads 'mint green' more than 'tsavorite' - although I wouldn't be surprised if the stone is darker (and hence more towards the medium-dark 'tsavorite' range of color) than the picture suggests. By any name, it is a wonderful stone!

I would prefer a white diamond crown surrounding the green center stone. The contrast will look great - very sophisticated and not so much like a cocktail ring. That''s my opinion only...I''m excited to see the end result!
