First of all a big hug for Sparklieslover as I would not have found this
stone without her :wavey:

Since 2 years I have been on an endless search for a green-blue emerald.
And I ended up finding the perfect stone. Small, but with enormous impact.
It also came with a price tag. A reasonable pricetag for a high quality stone
but not realistic for me at this point.

So, inspired by Sparklieslover I contacted Gene from Precision Gem about
1,5 weeks ago. He is such a great guy. Later that evening he send me a pic
with the Afghan Tourmaline rough he had available:

Um, Acinom? That's it? You're just gonna leave us hanging?!! Noooooo! We want to see the after! Assuming it hasn't been cut yet, what's the timeline for its completion?

Whoops! Got totally distracted
Gene already cut the stone. He started the evening before Thanksgiving and Friday I got the email showing this:
The stone turned out heavier and more elongated than expected.

Gene cut it in an astonishing timeframe. I am so amazed that he is able to cut such a stone within 1,5 days. Assuming/hoping that he did not have to work on it during Thanksgiving.

Hi Marlow :wavey:
Are you referring to the search by Puppyguts. I think she wants a real neon bright blue Paraiba.
But the rough is available! Except rough no 1 which is now mine.
If anyone is interested:
2. Square cushion 11.4 ct
3. Rectangular cushion 13.5 ct
4. Square cushion 9.2 ct
5. Square cushion 3.3 ct
6. Rectangular cushion 3.3 ct

The carat weights are estimates. Mine was estimated as a 5.3 ct chubby cushion but came out as a more Rectangular stone and the carat weight is 7.8 ct.

I just admired your stone Ricezo. What a gorgeous piece. I actually wanted to be this stone but I ideally a slightly bigger stone. But I loved it so much that it has been in my shopping cart about 4 times. Later I was already taking about the rough with Gene and then this stone was suddenly gone. I am soooo glad that you have it. Any ideas on how you will set it yet?

I was 100% convinced I would set it in a simple solitaire like the Trueste. But then it come out more rectangular and I need to think whether it would work.

Happy waiting for your stone!

Yay thank you! So glad you like my stone! I was thinking something simple too - my ring size is just under 5 so not sure how much finger real estate I have! I was thinking a simple solitaire or split shank or maybe a three stone ring with small baguette or rectangular side stones.

I think your tourm would look amazing in a solitaire or split shank setting! Here are some inspiration shots!

Aww, thanks for chiming in Laurie!! I was hoping you would drop by. Yours, Sparklieslovers and mine are true sister stones. I cannot wait how you will set yours since yours is also quite rectangular.
Gene selects great rough and cuts remarkable stones indeed!

I am sure some here will buy one of these stones and some piggybanks will die!!!

I like this elegant cut - perfect for the shape and I am happy it is no concave cut ( I hate checkerboard and concave - to many cheap treated quarz and flourite are cut this way...).

I especially love the first one you posted and it shows how beautiful an elongated shape looks in a very simple and elegant setting.

Ah yes... Poor piggy banks :naughty:
Gene can cut the rough either with concave or 'flat' facets. I am actually quite curious to see a concave cut stone in real life one day and I am sure I will own one in the future. I can totally see it on a yummy red stone. But for this stone I was convinced I wanted the flat facets. And I love the outcome.
I am so glad you like the stone Marlow. Means a lot to me coming from you since you have so much eye for and knowledge about colored stones.

Congratulations. I love the stone. I agree, afghan material is second only to fine Paraiba and is much more affordable. Most people these days rely on the "cert" meaning they look what the material is made of and where it is from. The real way to judge a stone is firstly if it is all natural and secondly the beauty of the stone itself and that is a beautiful stone.

I love Love LOVE the size of this stone!
a larger color stone allows said stone to "do its thing"!

Why am I not at all surprised to find Acinom having another purchase???!!! And what a find, very nice stone indeed, thanks for sharing!

Have you decided on setting yet? :Up_to_something:

Just hope Gene still has roughs when my piggy banks is fuller, and I am already at risk of not buying a new tent for next year as planned because I am spending money on jewellery instead.

Camping under canvas is my other hobby/passion, and I am after a new canvas tent that is an inflatable.

Not buying anymore (expensive) gems until next year, however, I am having a new semi-mount made for my EC diamond.
